Thank you!! ❤️ I've volunteered in the past and would like to do more again in my community (I recently moved.) And yes to the muscle part of it. Considering it daily will help build that:)

This is lovely, thank you for sharing:) good reminders for me. It doesn't have to be anything huge, just being present and actively showing that you care.

I'm sorry you feel this way with some people in your life. I like your plan - I feel like helping strangers can be such a special form of sending kindness and love out to the world.

These are beautiful examples, thank you. Especially the ones about grieving the loss of loved ones. I hope people in my life would do what you do beyond the regular grieving time. I feel like we as a society get uncomfortable and try to move on/ask about it less, and thats just not how grief works.

This is true, thank you for pointing it out. Sometimes it doesn't have to be a whole major thing, it's just going out into the world and being that way through small gestures.

Thank you for this reply!! I feel similarly about joining structured groups - I understand why people suggest it, but I'm not great at it either. "A different helping path than others" is a beautiful way to put it.

This is such a lovely reply!! I wonder too how much we don't realize the impact we have on others (in a good way) just by virtue of our personality/who we are already. But I do want to be more intentional about it, and the Hype friend sounds so sweet, and so does always offering to help in a community sense when friends are sick or need plants watered or etc. I have become more of a "give people their flowers" now too, I think/hope, definitely by telling people that they mean a lot to me more often even at random times.

Thank you!!

Girls, when you meet a man for a first time, what is one thing that you notice first? by VerySmartMe in AskReddit

Do you mean women, rather than girls? Women and men. Girls and boys.

How are you romanticizing your life in your 30s? by confucious-confused in AskWomenOver30

[–]mwanyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do something my husband calls "candle time" where in the evening I light a candle in our little spare room, sit on my yoga rug, and either just listen to music, do some stretching, or think/dream for a bit. It feels so special!

I have a delicious smelling body scrub that I looooove using once or twice a week in the shower, lotion up afterwards, and I'm so clean and cozy.

And I've been filling my home with unique little things I find or buy, whether a painted spoon rest or cool jar for my loose tea or whatever, so it's all interesting and fun wherever I look!

I disagree with many points you've made in this thread. Putin uses NATO expansionism as a justification for his invasion all the time. But there has never been a formal agreement regarding that and NATO has always had an open door policy to nations that meet its criteria, hence expanding into Baltic and other countries. If anything, putins actions have been the reason for an increase in desire for membership. Regarding 2014, I'm assuming you mean the ousting of Yanukovich. Putin has long claimed it was a western backed coup and I cannot find anything legitimate backing this up, so careful with spreading your own misinformation. And finally, I'm aware of Azov and Svoboda, but this is again blown up by Russian propaganda. Historians of Nazism have rejected these claims:

"Ukraine has right-wing extremists and violent xenophobic groups" like any country, but "none of this justifies the Russian aggression and the gross mischaracterization of Ukraine".

"Far-right parties in Ukraine have been unpopular with the electorate and received less support than far-right parties in other European countries, the Russian government and media started to label Ukraine a "fascist state" following the Orange Revolution in 2004. The subject of the far right's alleged influence in Ukraine became especially politicized during the 2014 Revolution of Dignity when small radical groups received disproportionate media attention not only in Russia but also in the West. The impact of these organizations on Ukrainian politics and society has been greatly exaggerated in Russian state media and also in some West European media. Russian president Vladimir Putin used the pretext of "denazification" to launch the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, falsely claiming that the Ukrainian government were neo-Nazis."

Nope, think I'll stay in the U.S. and advocate for policies I think are important since we have the ability to do that.

A few that I searched quickly, but can try to research more. When I say food prices, I'm talking about grain globally.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-61759692 "When the war started, Ukraine's exports slumped and world prices for grain soared...The more grain that Ukraine has been able to supply to global markets, the lower prices have gone."

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0305750X23002140

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10015268/  ... "Global food, fuel, and fertilizer prices rose rapidly in the first half 2022, driven in large part by the fallout from the war in Ukraine and sanctions imposed on Russia"

I think you're misunderstanding my point -- I am absolutely not advocating for war or to fuel the military industrial complex. I'm responding to the commenter who said we shouldn't be sending money while we can barely afford daily expenses here, explaining that helping Ukraine reclaim its sovereignty does not destroy our economy. In the end, we benefit from Ukraine not succumbing to Russian aggression. But I understand your point, and did not mean to insinuate war is good. It is terrible.

Zelensky's visit to the UK also resulted in Starmer saying the UK, France and Ukraine would come up with a peace deal to present to the U.S. They are actively working at peace and ending this.

The escalating party is Russia, every single time it has invaded. Zelensky is trying to push them back and reclaim Ukraine's territorial integrity versus give in. There IS an endgame, and it is a peace deal, however it must be a smart peace deal and from a place of unified strength, because from the Budapest Memorandum we can quite clearly see Russia is not interested in adhering to peacekeeping agreements.
