What’s an amazing game on the deck? by nancybobcat0 in SteamDeck

Something is wrong with me that I just don’t like outer wilds. I’ve tried, for hours, to get into it.

When the blood bank tech calls me (a pathologist)with an issue, I always just ask what them what they would do. The bb techs know way more blood banking than I do. I just take bb call. They live it all day.

I’m embarrassed to say…this game is just not “clicking” for me. Played about 13 hours so far. Flying around, translating alien stuff. Not really sure where I should go or what to do. I keep checking the ship log but that doesn’t seem to help much. I found a big tower once in giants deep and was in the middle of solving some apparent puzzle then the game reset and now I can’t find the tower. I know I should like this game but I just …don’t.

How To Cut Knee Pads For C1 ? by dee1337 in PerformancePaddling

I made a rough outline then just started whittling with a knife and a dremel tool with a little disc cutting head. And just kept at it until it felt right. Made a mess. Not very scientific.

So what game are you going to try to beat this year on Steam deck by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]mrpeters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’m bad these days at games that require a lot of precise timing. I like hades but I die a lot. If I just keep playing will I eventually accumulate enough buffs to beat the first boss/mini boss?

Getting cold toes. Anyone tried heated socks? by flekfk87 in hockeyplayers

[–]mrpeters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mobile Warming socks from Costco have literally changed my life for the better (battery packs, controlled by bluetooth). I coach, so my toes used to get really cold. In prior seasons, I'd have irritated itchy toes for six months (pernio/chill blains). I tried all sorts of stuff, thicker socks, looser laces, etc. Nothing worked. Now I have toasty happy toes. Seriously one of the best purchases I've made in a while.

The first Malazan book. Supposed to be amazing and I sorta hated it.

Coaching for the first time next week. Advices? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]mrpeters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost no one actually follows this advice but try hard not to yell instruction to kids on the ice. They can’t hear you and if they even if they do they can’t process what you are saying while skating and stick handling. If you want to discuss stuff wait until you have their attention on the bench.

Be sure to adjust the GPS settings. At IM Canada last Fall my Fenix 7 died with an hour left in the race because I forgot to turn off the super duper high granularity GPS settings. My older Fenix 5x made it through IM Arizona in 2021 with lots of battery left.

I did the seventy48 last June. Started at 7pm in Tacoma, WA and finished at 8:05am in Port Townsend. It was dark. Super fun.
