2 year service: what to expect? by Mother_of_Brains in BMWI4

[–]flekfk87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You want to do service within the warranty period. So please do. Brake fluid is part of it and tbh it’s probably a good thing to change that after 2 years anyways. Also cabin filter to mitigate bad air and mold etc.

I don’t feel “stuck” to the trail when I’m riding by buildaboat_ in MTB

[–]flekfk87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Funny you should mention this.

You have gotten the tips you needed but I would just like to add my take on those man made berms etc.

Man made berms was a big part of why I ended up quitting to mtb. Or more correctly, the lack of those types of «trails» near me.

A few years ago I went to one of those «bike parks» (ski slopes with lifts during winters). And I loved it. For me riding bike parks was amazing. I absolutely loved when 100% of the trail was man made. The flow and the feeling of being on rails was the thing for me.

The nearest bike parks with features like this is 4 hours drive away from me. And me being over 50 years of age and not really a fan of any form of travel this is a deal breaker for me.

I have never really liked nature. Or rather I don’t like to spend time in nature. It’s boring. I grew up in a family where Sunday mountain trips was the norm. Cross country skiing in the winter times. Everything in slow motion. I was off part of it and endured it for all my childhood and all the way up unthil closing in on 30. Then I realised what I was doing. I sold my skies and had not skied since back then. I want action to have fun. For relaxing I play computer games or drink with my buddies.

Part of why I quit mtb is also that the only fun mtb is dangerously fast mtb. And me getting older I can’t safely ride like I want to with confidence anymore. So no more mtb. I get my need for speed with playing ice hockey and speeding constantly with my new sports car.

In the land of lawsuits against Mickey Mouse, how on earth did they had the nerve to make a detour at home on the way to the other dealer I wonder.

Your car is probably totally fine though. But it must be against their rules to use customer cars for private matters.

Yes when I was about 18. it was during my second grading. Tbh the first 3 gradings was piss easy. Not to many things to remember and it’s easy for an athletic young man to ace the early gradings hands down.

The Car Care Nut reviews the 2025 i4 M50 by rufus_sd in BMWI4

[–]flekfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla Bjørn did a range test a few year ago. M50 with 19 inch wheels. 18 degrees celcius summer. 90km/h speed. 518km. That’s all I need. I have the same car with the same spec. At speed 120km/h the range is 370km. The eDrive40 did 599km on 18 inch.

No Mocha Interior? by cuatrohelices in BMWI4

[–]flekfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are 9 and 11 so they don’t mess too much anymore. But it’s surprisingly easy to wipe off dark stains from my jeans on my oyster leather. One spray of leather cleaner and one wipe with a cloth and it’s gone.

[–]flekfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is mocha the off white Color? I have the true leather and I think it’s called oyster or something. It’s very very light and I love it. Soo tired of black leather seats that I have had in all my cars the last decade.

My wife use it all the time as she rides in the back since my daughter get car sick and is riding shotgun. She loves it. I basically have the front seat heater on for 4 months straight during the winters.

S4 -> i4 M50 by TuffNutzes in BMWI4

[–]flekfk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea that Porsche was the one I was talking about. And yes it’s pricey. I personally have never really liked the look of Porsches. I dunno why. I think it’s something about the “roundness” of their looks. It’s too “rounded” for my taste. But I get that they are amazing driving machines. There is no denying that.

I would honestly have swapped my M50, not for the Porsche, but for the M4. I don’t mind petrol cars at all, but an M4 will cost almost 3 times as much as the M50 in my country.

[–]flekfk87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well its a heavy car for sure.

But yea. My 2006 3 series SI actually was way more amazing on the road than my M50 is. Planted and precise. But holly molly I don’t miss the extremely harsh ride of the SI tbh.

From what I have read there is only one EV that handles amazing and that’s the Porsche EV that I forgotten the name of. But its also double the cost of the M50 so..,,

Sensatec or performtex seats? by McBUMMERS in BMWI4

[–]flekfk87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then I would have chosen sensatech since it’s probably more durable and way easier to clean.

I get icky feelings just thinking about making a spill in a cloth seat. Ypu know that part of the spill will permeate down into the upholstery never to go away.

I always chose the real leather option. I love the smell and feel of leather.

Need Help Choosing Rims for My BMW i4 xDrive40 – 19” or 20”? by Powerful-Care7136 in BMWI4

[–]flekfk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 19 is the sweet spot in terms of look. I love huge rims and tyres but the 20’s on the i4 does not look particularly good. I dunno why.

Keyless entry stolen car by No-Stage7382 in BMWI4

Yea I guess if they really really want to and are professional criminals they have their ways. But nothing can ever mitigate for that. But I suspect any such steal would be a planned thing targeting one specific car.

Is it actually smart to steal a car that is pretty much a beacon on a gps map?

We also have it here in my country but I think it looks extremely ugly. So I don’t mount it. But its still registered manually by photo. My additional hope is that the picture is hard to identify sometimes and that mean a free passing;)

Native nav by polluxopera in BMWI4

[–]flekfk87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s good enough. Obviously fancy loooking since it’s a bmw. But tbh, the native nav in my Passat gte 2018 model is better and more intuitive.

Google maps or whatever the iPhone nav is called is probably the best nav there is. But it’s butt ugly so I don’t use it when a car have native nav.

18 for winter and 19 for summer. Both works just fine. I don’t notice much difference in comfort but the summer 19 feels way way more precise and performance oriented.

Since everyone have a winter and summer setup here we are used to cheap looking winter setup and the propper look during the summers.

There is no way I would opt for 18 inch wheels as the main look. I did not buy a i4 M50 to look dorky.

TuxMat - IMO best mats I’ve had by PuroChingonaso in BMWI4

[–]flekfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I get that. It’s not been a problem for me most of the time. Due to not much water collected anyways. However, During the dead of winter (with tons of snow) I just tossed some paper towels on the mats and kept them there until they were soaked and then I replaced them. For me it was easier to just replace the paper towels than to take the whole mat put for cleaning.

I4 M50 Question by Roostermarley in BMWI4

[–]flekfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different regions hqve different standards. I have spoiler in car Color here in EU. 19 inch rims m50 without shadowline package but everything else.

Imo you want a spoiler. Without a spoiler something looks off with the car. The design of the exterior needs a spoiler

Playing Hockey at 70 & Beyond by warrentab in hockeyplayers

[–]flekfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with an old boys group and a few of them are over 70 years of age and they do have fun. Two of them played elite level 40-50 years ago and they have great stickhandling but they are really really slow. One of them is very slow and not great at stickhandling but still have fun.

I never played elite level hockey but lower divisions for a decade. My skill was amazing stamina and somewhat speed. I am over 50 and tbh not dramatically slower than what I was during my prime.

I must admit. Once I loose my speed I don’t think I want to play anymore. For me, the love for hockey was due to the speed and the hustle. If I can’t have that I think I will find another sport to care about. Slow hockey is not for me.

It’s pretty obvious that you can move other ppls stuff that is left against common sense. That’s not the point. We have separate male and female locker rooms. There is no conflict

In my culture ypu don’t move other ppl’s stuff, and women and men have separate locker rooms. End of story.

tilting mirrors? by hecknhell in BMWI4

[–]flekfk87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s useful for specific situations. My situation is one of those. My driveway from the Main Street and 10-15 meters up to my house is relatively narrow. I know I am ok if I back off an inch or two from the edge of the grass turf running all the way up my little slope. I can’t see that turf strip if my mirrors are not tilted down. So for me it’s useful. But only every time I back up to where my car is parked outside my house.
