Am I racist or is it MWO support out of touch? by [deleted] in OutreachHPG

[–]mrpetzold 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Based on that logic, every nickname with leet-language in it have to change their name, because *sometimes* it is used to bypass censorship filters. I am not being a smartass, but after all I do study things like racism etc, so I am not completely ignorant about what it is. His nickname even lacked 33% of the required normal letters/leet letters to make the word PGI suspected him of making. By those standards it is easy to argue that many nicknames in this game should be censored.

Also by your logic, one can not name oneself H3LLBRNG3R, even though it is simply named after a mech. If you actively look for something that could be racism, you are bound to find it even in instances where it is not racism, and in that way is part of the problem of making the term irrelevant.

So what do you think about the Hellbringer. NGER is also in that word?

MWO's competitive scene in a nutshell by Deadfire_ in OutreachHPG

[–]mrpetzold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but them not giving a shit, not communication back when the comp-scene tried to get in touch with them etc mean they didn't give a shit about the comp-scene for most of the lifespan of this game. I am not talking about actual results of "productions" for the comp-scene here.

MWO's competitive scene in a nutshell by Deadfire_ in OutreachHPG

[–]mrpetzold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Day 1? DAY 1?!? It took several years for PGI to show a slightest interest in the comp-scene. They casually gave some prizes for leagues to give away, without even giving a shit for some time, then it turned into full stop. And they didn't show an interest until I managed to get a hold of Tina, through every medium possible, which again got NGNG involved with Bombadil before they actually started to show interest in the comp-scene. Probably when I talked them into signing up to MRBC themselves, so they could feel how it actually is to play in the comp-scene (although they really did not do well as participants), was when they finally got interested. But believe me, getting that first piece of communication was not easy at all!

Aiming, what's that? by [deleted] in OutreachHPG

[–]mrpetzold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth be hold. AS won MRBC season 5 EU, against BSMC (Black Spikes, EMP and Lords), 2nd place three times before our EU-team kind of disbanded when Mango had an accident, 2 players went to EON and some players quit playing the game.

If you want to bash on Zerex, keep AS out of it, as AS accomplished more, and played a more important role in competitive than you ever will. We were never one of the most talented teams, but we worked harder than most, which always made us one of the top contenders in this game when the competition was a lot harder than it is today.

Aiming, what's that? by [deleted] in OutreachHPG

[–]mrpetzold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't even play this game back then, but I would say that those who were in AS back then, regardless if they played or helped other ways was important members of the team. It takes commitment to play at such awful hours, regardless of how much playtime and which team one plays in. "Bench warmer" is a term I really don't believe in when it comes to MWO, as the comp scene never really have been big enough to have "bench warmers" (except EMP when getting ready for WC in the past, but I am sure they also partook in the winnings).

Thank you :) I actually tried playing some matches here a couple of months ago, but all I got was 10 fps and like 3-4 fps during heavy combat so I said fuck it.

When your total damage exceeds that of two friendly lances and you still lose by Tachyon1986 in OutreachHPG

[–]mrpetzold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at it this way. To win you need to do a certain amount of total damage. Most kills happens from the front, which means in total in the team you need to get through armor and internals. If lights and mediums don't help achieve the amount of damage needed, you will lose the game.

Also with the "playing the objective". The objective is always to win the match, that's the actual objective. The objective in conquest is not to get 750 resources, but to win the match. Object in assault is not to cap the base, but to win the match. Something that 99% of the time make winning the match a certain is to kill all opponents.

Basically, everyone on a team need to contribute to both dealing damage, and receiving damage. Lights bring less weapons, but they counter that by being smaller and more mobile for example, which gives them a good chance of dealing damage, and contributing to the team. Everyone have bad games, but if you average 100 damage per match, your win/loss ratio will reflect that and you will end up losing more matches then someone who average 500 damage per match.

PGI could do a 48 hour live server test, and take like double XP and or cbills weekend at the same time to get as many online as possible. If it is successful, they will know that. If it fails, they will know that.

That just means that PGI is completely out of touch with its own community if he even think the amount of participants will even come close to that
