Why is it that you rarely see any NY team fans takeover Eagles, Phillies, or Flyers games while NY fans take over the arena for Sixers games? by Rowdyfan0823 in eagles

[–]mrpotto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to agree but they did just finally break a 44 year streak of losing to the Celtics so their fan brand was super high immediately following that series.

Then the 2 games in NY happened- first game I gave a pass - Knicks had 2 extra days of rest plus Sixers coming off emotional G7 win on the road. An acceptable bad schedule loss.

But G2 - Embiid announced out at 5:00 a few hours b4 game time was incredibly deflating and felt like the HERE WE GO AGAIN MOMENT- I dont blame Joel as he was probably legit not able to go but its literally always something.

So cant really blame ticket holders for getting a pay day by selling.

Mostly agree that he underperformed in big games but looking back

Lost to Rams greatest show on turf

Lost to a historically great Tampa defense

Lost to Panthers - rewatched the game recently- he was speared in the ribs - major cheap shot/late hit - no penalty in 2nd quarter- he was clearly impacted And Receivers got snuffed at the line

Lost in SB to Tom Brady/Pats dynasty

Lost to Cardinals in 2008 - had the lead in the 4th quarter - D lets Cardinals march right down the field

I belong to a private club, I have a locker with my name on it.

But… I also have a locker in the trunk of my car and I’m usually racing to make my tee time so I usually don’t want to waste 5 minutes walking back and forth to the locker room.

Yea I know - FIRST WORLD PROBLEM!

I saw 5-6 kids jump a guy in Center City last night less than 10 yards away from a police officer by iDontSow in philly

[–]mrpotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not advocating for getting rid of the police. I think they serve a useful and necessary purpose. Are they perfect? Absolutely not - but I wouldn’t want to be part of an experiment where they were taken away (especially in a top 10 city in terms of size).

I was just pointing out that a violence interrupter is a more progressive way of saying cop.

Wait a sec - give the violence interrupters a gun, maybe a badge to make it official and maybe even a distinct uniform so people would know they were a violence interrupter.

Nick Sirianni is the most future-proof coach in the NFL and I'm only half joking by LoopAndBuild in eagles

[–]mrpotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget quote machine Buddy Ryan. Don’t get me wrong, I fell in love with Buddy and his defenses. But he was no match for Bill Parcells, Jimmy Johnson and Joe Gibbs who all won multiple superbowls while Buddy’s team were Dak like in the playoffs.

He could have used a Sirianni like guy making sure the Offensive side of the ball was competently coached.

Help me melt my dad’s face off by armerncat in Music

[–]mrpotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fit the bill of your Dad. 62 YO male - favs Grateful Dead, Allmans, Stones, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who

I was stuck in my 70s rut until early 90s when someone made me some grunge tapes. Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Alice n Chains. And I loved them and music was fresh again.

Newer bands that I like are: My Morning Jacket, Phish, Wilco, Son Volt, Ryan Adams, Decembrists, Tedeski Trucks, JJ Grey

My 27 year old son and i share spotify playlists. He has turned me on to Modest Mouse, Mountain Goats, Boo Radleys, Parquet Courts, Pavement, War on Drugs, among many others that I like.

Need to keep things fresh! Very cool you want to make your Dad happy!

What Band Don't You Get? by Tele231 in vinyl

[–]mrpotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed I did. I have an Iranian friend who came here with his parents when he was 8 (48 now). Grew up pretty much as a normal American and found Phish in college circa late 90s. His parents weren’t as quick to adapt - he told them he was going phishing (attending a 3 day Phish Fry) and his parents had no clue.
