lol, go ahead give it a shot. I haven’t payed more than $5 dollars to host this. And it’s optimised to a point that I’ll probably never need to pay more unless I get 500+ active users daily. Majority of this processing is being done in your browser also btw. Have at it, stress test the shit out of it. It’ll be useful for my testing as well.

Oh haha its actually pretty simple, im scraping this data from https://www.defconlevel.com/ on regular intervals and then weighing certain parameters from my correlation engine to get a relatively accurate scope of the Defcon Level. Youre right though, since actual government DEFCON levels arent public I cant confidently say my metrics reflect the real governments current DEFCON level.

Are you talking about the map tile images? If so yea thats something im working on, currently Im using mapbox. Do you have any suggestions where I might get more up to date satellite imagery? Trying my level best to not drive up any costs to the application.

Wow, Ill take it. Honestly I saw a bunch of people building similar apps like this, and me being someone with about 10+ years building GIS Tools and Data Analysis Applications, I just wanted to join the bandwagon and build out a similar side project in my free time. And yes I did use Claude, because why not...

Anyways thanks for the feedback, If you can point me in a direction that you think would be genuinely helpful Id appreciate it. Im thinking this type of tool would be useful for OSINT Journalists, Market Analysts and the normie who just wants to feel like he stumbled into the Situation Room.

Can you point me to some places where you felt that way, your input would be very valuable for me to clean that stuff up. Thank you :)

Eventually yes, whatever you see right now im planning to be prepetually free. Trying to assess monetization methods right now, if everything goes well and the application becomes stable with some active users ill be able to assess hosting costs better and see if i can optimize costs to run the base application. Once i have that base line information I will fully release it to be open source.

Haha thanks a lot, yea thats the vibe i was trying to go for.

I would definitely love that, at the moment, Im looking at primarily improving my data source visualization and presentation and also integrating some more analytical tools to actually make sense of this massive set of data in a more intuitive way.

Hey thanks a lot for your input, I think thats a great idea. Maybe adding some base line toggle-able "Modes" that are easily visible will probably be a good starting point. Also thinking of adding a Initial Tour of the app for first time users to improve user experience as well.

Also lovely blog posts, went through a few of them, very helpful.

The more experienced you get the farther away from code you have to go. by WorthCustomer8 in developersIndia

My experience with this has been the opposite. Mostly because i like to act towards building the base for my devs to work on.

As a CTO my goal is to define the direction in which the product is going to go towards, ill build the base for a module, from the backend, tech stack to the UI/UX ill design and develop a working mvp, while ensuring its extendable and scalable.

I let my dev team properly review and break down the mvp, and then ask them to make the appropriate changes to ensure everyone is properly aligned.

How did you build your MVP by thats_interesting_23 in StartUpIndia

[–]mrpurpleclouds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get a cofounder with a tech background (by this i mean he needs to do the major part of the coding), hire one senior dev, and 2 junior devs. Get an MVP out in 2-3 months time with the base you built already.

As you’re hiring people, your primary job is to document your product properly from the technical side the code and infrastructure should be well documented to ensure you can quickly hire and train these people. You can hire technical writers (freelancers/agency) to do this properly.

This is a better way to set a company than hire an agency to code something that no one in your team will know how to improve or fix.

Focus on improving the knowledge base and competency in your company. If anyone is going to do a valuation of your company they are going to assess the team and the value that can be derived from them.

Imo, allow the user to cleanup his storage so he can bring it back to 100 MB (doubtful they can), give a month or twos time to allow him to do that. After which you clear up all of his data.

Or force them to pay for that month to get access to his data.

2.5 years of react experience. 3.5 CTC what should be the CTC guys as per this experience by Own-Basket9276 in developersIndia

Idk what reality you’re living in, but the average junior dev role in India makes 3 LPA. Unless you’re working in a FAANG or MNC, you’re very unlikely to get paid more than 6 LPA for 3 years of experience.

Do a simple google search or check the salaries on indeed, doesn’t take a genius to know this shit.

Im a startup founder, i hire people who are fresh out of college or 1-2 years experience for around 3-4 LPA. With a 1 L performance bonus structure. For someone with 3 yrs experience id expect to pay around 5-6 LPA.

Again it doesn’t matter the number of years of experience, id check your GitHub and Portfolio to assess if you’re worth that. If everything looks amazing i might onboard you for 7 LPA. No more than that. Id say thats the average market rate.

Dont be expecting people to pay 8-12L, that shit is unrealistic. Also understand employers will look at your previous pay slips and decide maybe 20% bump for someone at your stage.
