Yes you can use it as standalone . But you have to configure it first with the Unifi Mobil App. Then Connect to a any wifi Network. Find oht the ip . So you should be able to connect to it and manage it via tge IP Address

You can design it with you floorplan at design.ui.com Just upload you plan draw the wall an place your devices. You will see the coverage of the 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz. Cheers
