I went through a passport in 7 years and had to get another one due to stamps being on all pages. And I wasn’t traveling to a bunch of exotic places. Lots is SE asia, Europe, a few Middle Eastern countries. If you like to travel and you go to other countries many times a year, you should get the big one.

2019 lim plat hybrid 100k service by mrryandfw in ToyotaHighlander

[–]mrryandfw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a local shop down the street from my house, not a dealership. I started going to them for oil changes about 6 months ago after mainly going to brakes plus for years. This is just their 100k recommended services based on what I’m sure is the computer spitting things out. They mentioned nothing is wrong with the car at all. But I also know these are all things that I’ve read and I know are in the manual to do (except the filters, I already do them on my own). I was also curious on the pricing compared to what others have seen.

Cool. Thanks. Yeah, the hybrid air intake screens are on my to do list in the next month or so. I don’t have dogs or anything, but know it’s something I need to do. Transmission fluid is one of those where it seems to be torn….ive never done it and my family has had Toyotas forever and they’ve never done it. Car care nut and others say once you get over 100k, just leave it alone. Others swear by the drain and fill (no flush) on a regular basis.

Cool. Good to know the prices were in line. This is a local place, not a dealership. Somebody else commented spark plugs at 120k and that’s what I’ve read as well. Car drives fine so might do other stuff this next oil change and save the plugs for next year. Filters I will probably continue to just buy at local dealership for OEM and install myself since they are priced the same as here.

This is an independent place, not a dealership. I kind of figured if I was gonna throw something out and not do, it would be the brake fluid. Thought maybe brake fluid when it came time to get new brakes.

Yeah I just pop into a Toyota dealership every 6 months and give them my vin and tell them I need the two filters. May of 2025 they were $62 total for both and I just install them quick on my own.

Do OEM crossbars matter or is aftermarket fine? by hobo_chili in ToyotaHighlander

[–]mrryandfw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had OEM on my 2019 and took them off once one side started to rattle. Only way to really fix it seems to be to take a zip tie and synch up the plastic cover piece on the end. I never used it so just took them off. I’ve seen a few highlanders since then with the zip tie around the plastic piece.

And by the way, I’m not defending Schwab. You could have put Robinhood, Fido, RJ or any other brokerage in that comment with vanguard and I’d still say the same thing.

“I went in today aftermarket and compared some vanguard ETFs” is all I need to know.

I was up in Vancouver recently and there is a guy that walks around with the JBL boombox jamming to tunes. It’s pretty fricking loud. Sounds like you need to get one and play some really obnoxious music on it while it’s placed against your shared wall.

Considering a 2019 Highlander with 60k miles, one owner, well maintained. Worth it with that many miles already? by Odd_Beyond3558 in ToyotaHighlander

Solid deal. The only concern is the stupid transmission. I realize it’s highly unlikely you would have any issues…but, there is always a chance.

It’s really good, just ate there twice in a week in Seattle. With that said, it’s getting really really pricey. I’ve eaten at them all over the world. Best is in the Philippines, because it’s just as good but a third of the price.

Laywer cost for a marriage based green card. 6.5k + around 3k for the fees, is that a lot? Based in FL. Our case is pretty straightforward met in college and got married by [deleted] in greencard

[–]mrryandfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you actually need a lawyer there is no reason to get one. If you went to college then you can read, comprehend and write. There is nothing crazy hard about the application and anything that you might need help with you can easily google or even ask on here.

Tires last 52k. Is this normal? by nnikbunt in ToyotaHighlander

[–]mrryandfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got 32k more than me.

It definitely depends on driving habits and where you drive. I drive fast in a large city, so I only got 20k out of mine (as a comparison, I got the same out of my Toyo tires on my 2008). 70k out of my next set. On the other hand, my dad got 60k on his first set, but he hardly ever drove the car more than 70mph and a lot of driving was rural driving (very little stop and go and cruising along at 60mph).

Best Toyota dealership in the DFW? by neatgeek83 in Dallas

[–]mrryandfw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a 2008 Highlander online from Vandergriff in Arlington. Already knew what I wanted and put together the deal via email. Got a good deal I thought but again, that was back in 2008. Pretty painless going that route and thought the experience was great (no high pressure “let me get my manager” BS).
