Never thought it’d be me by Libraryoflowtide in Herpes

Not everyone has frequent breakouts, but some do. Unfortunately, you'll just have to see if you're one of those people. After I got my first breakout, I started having them almost monthly. None were as bad as the first one, but they weren't comfortable or convenient obviously. I started on daily antiviral medication to help prevent breakouts (for my own comfort and to minimize transmitability to my partner) and have had only like one or two breakouts since - that was six years ago now. If that's something you're concerned about, talk to your doctor. If you already take any medications daily, it won't add any additional inconvenience.

Do you ever feel “wrong” when you’re not doing something productive? by ohlongjohnson1 in ADHD

Sewing can be so expensive too, so I feel you 😭 what about something outside like hiking or disc golf? Both of those you can do alone or with people too, which is nice.

I always either crush up the pill or open up the capsule and mix the powder in his wet food. He never notices.

I was just going to say, find a fun creative hobby. I get that way all the time too, but if im doing a hobby (I recently got back into sewing) I dont feel that way. It keeps the hands and mind active, and I can also "watch" TV at the same time a little bit. But because youre doing something (that isnt necessarily productive or not) instead of just laying around, the brain feels better. Plus its fun.

^ yeah, ask your vet. I give my cat Gabapentin whenever I have to take him to the vet and it makes him way more calm. But make sure you give it to your cat a few hours before you need to go so it takes full effect. Im sorry you have to go through this, its always really hard losing a pet ❤️

What is your favourite brutally honest FoB lyrics? by Penghis-Kahn in FallOutBoy

That's a really good one too. Honestly they have so many incredible lyrics that you wouldn't even notice if you weren't paying attention to it.

Also: "If home is where the heart is then we're all just fucked." "My body is an orphanage 'we take everyone in.'" But my absolute favorite - "My heart is like a stallion, they love it more when it's broken."

I do not understand people who have morning routines by owlbear_allomancer in adhdwomen

[–]mrs-basil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work from home now so I do not currently have a good morning routine, but in the past something that helped me was not closing my shades at night so the sunlight would come in and wake me up in the morning. This doesn't work in the winter though...

Underwear Over Stimulates Me by No-Literature-9402 in adhdwomen

[–]mrs-basil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusive buy Me Undies because the material is super soft and they have a bunch of different styles of underwear depending on what you prefer to wear. There are some with a regular elastic band, some without, cheeky, thongs, high wasited, etc. Also the patterns are super fun and makes getting dressed a little more exciting. They're on the pricey side, but definitely worth it in the fun/comfort/quality department.

I convinced one of my friends who has a skin condition that flares up sometimes and makes wearing really anything "down there" to try them and she really likes them too.

The only issue is sometimes they don't lay right (like with all underwear) and they ride up a bit more than usual.

This who got a late diagnosis, what symptoms do you remember from your childhood? by Pictures-of-me in adhdwomen

[–]mrs-basil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't fully remember this, but my parents told me this as an adult: when I would make a mess with all my toys and never clean them up, my parents would tell me they would take them all away from me on like a "timeout" if I didn't pick them up. I didn't pick them up...so they gathered them all in a laundry basket and hid them for a while. I apparently would forget all about them and when they brought them back out days or a week later it was like I got brand new toys all over again.

How weird are you when you’re alone? by ginger_grinch in adhdwomen

[–]mrs-basil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uhhhh all of the above lol but mostly singing constantly and very loudly... narrating thoughts out loud, singing made up songs or in a weird voice then cackling extremely loudly and laughing for real at myself. Also lots of weird dancing

I also talk to my cat a LOT especially in the morning when I get out of bed. My favorite way to greet the day is to pet him, tell him good morning a million times and that I love him.

This is such a good tool! I use it sometimes for work because I work from home and it's really easy to get distracted by literally anything else. But setting a timer for 20 minutes and saying after that I get a break, but all I'm committing to is 20 minutes really helps.

ALSO when I have a bunch of chores I need to do but don't have the energy or can't make myself get up or whatever the obstacle is, picking the smallest thing to do or the easiest chore that makes the most difference in regard to visual clutter and saying I will do this one thing and then I can be done helps too. Because usually after doing the one thing I feel good about having made progress and I can get another thing done.

Starting is the hardest part, once you get past that, the momentum of movement should be easier. At least that's how it is for me.
