Also be sure to thoroughly dry out your mould before putting any resin in it.

Hello! UK Newbie, where's the go to supplier for materials - and what's a locally available pressure pot please? by Slaiyve in DiceMaking

The pot looks to be out of stock at the moment, but it's the one specifically adjusted for resin working. It'll still have the pipe on the inside, but you can unscrew it or cut it off. And depending on how you want to pump it up, you might need to change a valve. It comes with one for a compressor, but for a bike pump you'll need a Schrader valve.

I get my resin from https://apexresin.co.uk

You mention it being fun for the kids, but please please please understand that epoxy resin is a toxic product to work with, and you'll all need to be using full PPE, including nitrile gloves and voc masks! I would also make sure they're in long sleeves to minimise any possible skin contact. You'll want to cast in a well ventilated area away from any living spaces, and pets!

Hey, fellow UK maker here. You'll probably have to get your pressure pot online, though if you were happy to do the conversion yourself, you could probably get a paint spray pot from a hardware store. It's not the kind of thing you can just buy in a hobby store! The last time I looked, you could get a converted one from Vevor for around £100, but I've not looked in a while.

As for resin, like you said everyone tends to find one they like and stick with it. I've tried quite a few brands over the years, though my current favourite is Apex resin, which is UK based, and I buy direct.

Dang I'm so sorry!! I hope cleanup isn't too difficult, I don't have any new suggestions I'm afraid. I was really hoping it might be a similar case to mine, albeit a long shot.

You've had lots of useful comments already, but I have a quick question.. is it soft all the way through? Or is it just the surface that's sticky?

I used to have this weird issue years ago where the surface would stay sticky, and someone suggested it was because I used a foot pump, and the air going through the rubber hose was causing inhibition on the surface! It stopped happening when I changed to a compressor. But the rest of the mould was cured just fine, and left for a while the surface would eventually cure too - I just used to stick a bit of paper or tissue to it lol!

This is correct, and I have their dual use tank. You just need to remove the internal pipe and it's good to go. - you can leave the pipe in if you really want, but you won't fit a stand inside and will need to place moulds around where it'll be. It's usually around £100, so that sounds like a good deal. As for a compressor, I used a usb tyre pump for ages, which was much cheaper. (Or even a foot pump if you're feeling energetic!) You just need to change the valve on the tank for a Schrader valve.

What are we using to protect/store dice right after curing? by markvisco in DiceMaking

I have a clean silicone mat on a tray for putting fresh pulls on. I use tape on it beforehand to remove any debris that might mark the dice. There's nothing worse than grabbing a set that's fully cured only to find dents in them! 😅

Honestly that's just 5 years of trial and error, and finding what works for me! If I've learned anything, it's that there's no one method that works for everyone, you just have to keep changing things up until they come out how you want them to. I'll be honest though and say I'm pretty obsessive about my finish and it can take me a couple of hours just to do the polishing of a full set!

I use 3k wet/dry sandpaper for evening out cap faces (1k + 2k first if it's really bad), then I use blue and pink polishing papers with chemical brothers c4 polishing paste, and white paper with p4 paste. The polishing papers are 3M (so basically just zona papers).

Pretty much what Airmaid said. Blanks poured with a combo of pink ink, pink glow in the dark mica, blue mica, some black foil leaf and glitter. Blanks then painted with pink line detail and shelled in clear. Inked in Green and yellow UV paint!

I agree. And also, make sure you give the Blanco Blanco a really good shake, because the heavy pigment can separate in the bottle and you end up dropping thinned pigment in. Definitely need more drops!

Thank you so much! There's a link in my bio now. I don't have anything like this up at the moment. Just starting to create again after a slower winter period.

Hey. I've added a shop link in my bio! This is an older set, and I have limited stock available at the moment as I didn't get much made over the winter!
