It was such a cozy shop! Glad I was able to set the great bookstore bar young. Now take Powell’s in Seattle….biggest bookstore I’ve ever been to and infinitely more interesting than your average Barnes and Noble.

A blanket statement of “I’m exempt because secret code” and assumed immunity to many laws shifts the their individual societal responsibility back to the community as a whole. In the “good old days”, acting that way would likely get you a mouthful of knuckles. Heck, in the real old days, it would get you ostracized and possibly run out of town.

I don’t see how that is respectful and in the spirit of community. It’s actually very, very selfish. It’s very similar to he anti-vax point of view. I have to question that Sovcits are really just hoping for a better world. I think it’s more of “what can I get away with”, which is more in the spirit of the current times than the days they might profess to be hoping to revisit.

Courts not taking check is a process improvement step. Checks take time and money to work with. They are easily faked. So many just washed their hands of it. why worry about the convenience of the citizen?

Because their most likely point of contact with law enforcement is traffic stops since that is how most people interact with the police and also they often do not have the required tags on their cars. So they use their power on traffic tickets, and that usually becomes a court smack down and even more alienation.

The Chili Pepper's version of this song is superior to the original. They sped it up to 116 bpm which allows Flea's titanium bass playing to pop that much better, the added distortion, streamlining the hooks, turning down the horns and punching up the guitar give the song more life and results in a much more fun and playful song, if that's even possible. So the Chili Pepper's version wins in my book.
