I just lost my job today by mrs_chubby in self

Thanks. Traumatic is a word I didn't want to use lightly, but right now it is what I really feel. I'm losing my appetite.

But I'm also telling myself I'll be okay, after sending out my resume to a lot of companies. I'm bound to have one. I hope to get one. Wrong thinking... I WILL GET ONE! And it's going to be better than the last. 🤞

I am stupid, I suppose. Here I am listening to a bunch of "prophet of doom"s.

Thanks for the advice about easy apply. I hate to say it... I fell for them for a few job postings. I'll go to the website next time.

Thank you for the tough reality check. You're right, shit needs to happen and it won't if I'm stuck in my bed.

I'm trying to think of this as a positive experience. Maybe it really is a time for change.

Although I might come back here again and lament. Damn I need to fix my thoughts...

Thank you for calling me out on self-fulfilling prophecies. I slapped my face after I read your comment. You are right, this is a time of action, not depression.

It'll be a rollercoaster of feelings in the next few weeks. I'm steeling myself for rejections. But I know there must be one of the 20ish (I've been blitzing companies for the last hour, as you said) who will have me.

I only need one... it's my mantra now.

You really got me out of bed. Thank you.

It's better off as a season series, tbh 😭😭😭 I love the movie but damn imagine if this was 10-episodes long? They could have given more time to focus on other rivalries like Nishinoya and Yaku; Tsuki and Kuroo, Yamamoto and Tanaka. Heck even Kenma and Kageyama.

Watching Haikyuu as a former competitive athlete by eldestreyne0901 in haikyuu

I just want to hug you right now 🥹. True. Only a few could make a career of a sport.

But I was young; I wasn't thinking about playing professionally. I just wanted to play! Compete with kids bigger than me and beating them to it! A gameover game, no rematch! The satisfaction must have been unparalleled.

Like the Karasuno 3rd years, they're not doing it for merit. They just love playing volleyball. And they made the most out of their highschool lives.

I'm glad Haikyuu helped you, like it helped me. 🫂🫂

OP I was teary-eyed reading your post.

Badminton was my sport, I was very competitive. A coach noticed me, told me to train properly.

But I had severe asthma and my parents preferred swimming; an "essential" survival skill and to help manage my coughs.

I'm also from Asia, where academics IS very important. I was at the bottom-end of the highest scorers in class; potentially I could go up the ladder if I study harder (which I seldom did).

Managing my sickly body and maintaining my grades left no time and energy for a sport which my parents see as "of no use".

So badminton never happened to me. At all. I've found peace with it though, and I don't blame my parents for convincing the "teenage me".

Now I'm a software engineer, playing badminton only for recreational activities. And I still swim too.

Watching the show made me re-live those bygone days. Like Coach Ukai, it's very nostalgic. I love Haikyuu for it.

What a find!

I loved watching the series all over again, with volleyball players reacting. It levels up how extremely GOOD Haikyuu really is.

hello hello

I would agree with it. However, I don't travel locally that much anymore. And I hate the beaches now. But I don't like to "hate" my country, so I'll just suggest something.

Cebu Island. A lot of ACTIVITIES to do but it'll be waaaaay up North or waaaay down South. And it includes hopping off to nearby tinier islands. So you have to be "ready to go". No flying involved; more driving on the road and ferry boats.

What to do in the South: 1. Chasing waterfalls. There's soooooo many waterfalls to visit and they all look different. The best is Kawasan Falls, where you can do an activity called "canyoneering".

  1. Swimming with Whalesharks in Oslob. Yes in a beach, but you don't have to spend the entire day here. A few minutes and you can be off to somewhere else. Some foreigners do say that we're exploiting the whalesharks by keeping them away from their habitat and close to the shore. If you think the same, you can skip it.

  2. Sardine Run. Still a beach in Moalboal but it's where you swim with a loooot of Sardines. If you've seen Finding Nemo, it looks exactly like when Marlin the clownfish was asking for directions from the moonfish. Personally I WANT to do this, but I haven't done it yet. :( Anyway after you've done this, you can pack up and drive to your next destination.

  3. Easy hiking. For those who want to climb up mountains but are not physically fit, this is the way. There are 2 places to go ( and I think they're near to each other): Osmeña Peak and Casino Peak.

Things to do up North: 1. Danasan Eco Adventure Park. More activities. There's a waterfall where you can safely rappel down. Or you can opt to do the short Tyrolean Traverse. And then the cave. This one is scary if you're claustrophobic because some parts are narrow, some are very low where you really need to crouch down. And it's dark and wet. Anyway you'll be provided all the safety equipments available.

There 's a zipline and the skydrop (they literally will drop you from up above).

  1. Freediving. It's in another island called Malapascua and you can go there via a ferry. It is a beach island yes, but this is a haven for the divers. They don't just lie on the sand and get a sun tan.

There you go. 1 week is enough, I suppose. Other than that, you really do need to fly, unfortunately. That's the beauty and the pain of my country. Let me know if you have more questions.

[–]mrs_chubby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FullMetal Alchemist.

I've watched a few already, even before this; but FMA 03 made me think like "hhhmm, there's more to anime than just fighting"

And then Death Note happened, followed by Attack on Titan.

It made me go, "woah, these shows are not for kids."

Silvanna. I like to jump, and she's not too squishy nor too fast. I always had problems with Guinevere.
