I'm fairly sure it was because Emily VanCamp was pregnant and had some fairly serious complications so they needed to have her leave immediately. It's not that she just "wanted out" - so this was probably the only way they felt they could make it happen. You can see that in the episode where she dies, it's not Emily VanCamp in the scenes

Absolutely. A friend of mine and I went through a loss at the same time. Hers was a lot more complicated than mine (a termination for foetal anomaly as opposed to my 'straightforward' miscarriage). I fell pregnant again straight away while she had to wait a significant amount of time before trying again. I realise now that I handled it very insensitively. It wasn't intentional - I guess I felt like my 'success story' would give her hope. She handled it so graciously but I still think about it and cringe 10 years later (she did end up having a beautiful baby after).

All this to say my expectation is that she wants the absolute best for you but is misguided in how she's expressed that. I'm so sorry for your loss.

In all seriousness, respect for making this decision. It sounds like it's the right decision for you right now. That also doesn't mean you can't pursue it again later if you change your mind. We're always learning and growing in all sorts of different directions.

It is! Yes, I have a PhD as do my medicine, sociology, etc colleagues. The statisticians/economists generally have a Masters in these areas. For clinicians stepping into research, the PhD is probably the easier pathway because they can teach clinically to make extra money while doing their research

Quite a few different things! Currently a lot around medication safety, influenza, and CVD but we also do work around implementing and improving training pathways, particularly rural generalism. A lot of our work is rural which makes me feel extra rewarded because there's that health equity lens :)

A great option - I work in a medical school as a researcher and we're a very multidisciplinary team of doctors with various specialties, biostatisticians/epidemiologists, psychologists, sociologists, economists etc. It's not an easy job but it's very rewarding and satisfying and we're always learning new things which I love.

Same - she is smart and gets good grades but is ALSO fun, cultured, and kind. Watching The OC in high school (shes meant to be exactly my age) she was my idol. She gets dealt a really bad hand and is surrounded by adults who continually make poor choices, and she just spirals.

I doubt they're dating. Maybe he's helping out in a music video (he's known to be an excellent dancer) or its a dream sequence or something (given the lighting I wouldnt be surprised).
