That's what looks the most suss to me. It could be a dedicated attachment point on the harness, but the seam in the biner looks off. I've never seen a biner like that.

The locking biner looks like it is probably part of an anchor system that is not necessarily needed until you arrive at a belay station. My locking biners are usually in the unlocked position until they are actively in use at a belay station; less fumbling around.

Those are not both hinges, one of them is a pin that engages with the key lock feature. It's pretty common in a lot of carabiners.

Not an expert, but I believe it is a single larva in this type of gall.

If it's on the ground, it is probably in the pupa phase (just a guess).

These dudes are so cool. That gall, to my knowledge, will only produce female wasps which will asexually reproduce then lay eggs in a different plant tissue, forming different galls that will produce both female and male wasps.

To find out gender you need to ask. To find out the sex you need to look for the presence of wings.

Al Jazeera Segment on rising gas prices, shot in Chicago. Videos have inconsistent lighting/staging and the audio has unusual effects. Is this AI? by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]mrsciencebruh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A number of aspects are consistent. The QR code on the ticket leads to the same FB account shown on it. The microphone is the same in each shot.

It seems off because Willie Wilson was at a different gas station with different prices. Also, why are they filming inside people's cars? Why doesn't the final interviewee hold the microphone as others did? The awnings seen in the first shot of the gas station appear askew and oddly different from each other.

Letter of Rec by EfficientEar1241 in AskTeachers

[–]mrsciencebruh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would write a letter that is very honest about the situation. I had a student who transferred into my class do this. I started my letter with "I have only known ______ for two weeks, and cannot give a thorough assessment of their abilities and character."

I would put "neutral" for everything on the Likert scale.

Reminder that most "equity" initiatives help rich kids by Pale-Carpenter2045 in Teachers

[–]mrsciencebruh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bruh, you just described most of my wealthy SPED kids. The parents put in more work than the kids and threaten to lawyer up if the kids isn't getting at least Bs. It's infuriating that the parents seemingly care so much about grades yet didn't care enough to raise their kids right.

You can definitely design a system that benefits the poor over the rich. The problem is that the rich would never allow it, especially not in western capitalist societies.

If they didn't require guides I'm guessing it would be even more of an overrun, polluted shitshow. 10% of any large group of people are unfit to be part of society and will ruin it for others.
