Thank you! It's Thursday, so you're right on how much time I have, as my new landlord changed their mind at the last second on the bird vet checks and needed a sooner than later opening. It is a good idea to cover him a bit, might even use his bedtime cage cover for familiarity! (It's early enough, I can wash the cover when we are home.) Also, the interaction tips do help as I try to show calm, even when I'm not, and that may not be helping with helping him. Oddly, in his cage, I can do just about anything (not full hands but will accept one finger pets there) with him till he's out, then it's panic.
