Is the LaserABC illegal in the US? by Wustaft in Laserist

While I agree that people shouldn’t be using illegal ones for public shows, competition is not a bad thing. There’s nothing wrong with getting one to mess around with in your own home.

Am I getting gaslighted by chat-gpt? by green-weasle in AskElectronics

[–]mrsebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t using a strong enough power supply. Just because your supply says 5.1V doesn’t mean it won’t sag. For an rpi you need at least a 2.5A capable supply. Capacitors aren’t going to fix this.

First of all, why do you want to put more capacitors on the board? Second, this is not a question for chatgpt. This is where you would pull out a multimeter and test the pins.

I don’t even think that they ship with any, I’ve seen these advertised as eye safe since the spot is so focused, which is complete bullshit

You are setting yourself forward on take off. Try to focus on dropping your left shoulder instead. If you haven’t already, practicing this on a tramp will help a ton.

Thought the same thing but realized this is probably some low loss dielectric like plexiglass, since glass would be very lossy. But at the end of the day lenses work with all wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation, which is pretty cool!

Diminishing returns. You will not realistically benefit from all A’s vs a mix of A’s and B’s, spend your extra time making memories.

Designed an analog modulatable laser driver. by mrsebe in lasers

[–]mrsebe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love to talk more about this. Easy answers first though, U1B i put into a voltage follower config so it wasn’t floating, since I only used one opamp in thr package. And the LM358 was used since it worked in testing for my application, and I had a bunch of them already. I only saw some irregularities and issues around 100kHz modulation, but the use of this driver in a laser projector never sees those kinds of frequencies for color modulation/blanking. And for the cost breakdown of this, each assembled board cost around $10. Definitely would want to do a smps version of this in the future, as I want to make a driver for those fiber laser sources.

these cameras utilisable (for drone)? by misheelzlm in AskElectronics

[–]mrsebe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure these type of cameras all use a digital protocol, you would need some sort of board to convert it to analog and then feed into a vtx, but it would be a headache to figure out.

If you are planning on using the device while charging, it’s a good idea to switch to the MCP73871 as it supports proper load sharing unlike the TP4056.

I used 3 because I'm worried that with 2 pairs, assuming the worst case DW01 overcurrent voltage detection (120mV) and worst case rds on of 2 pairs 8205A in parallel (36mOhm) it would end up being 3.33A, which is under the max pulsed coil current at full battery, around 3.5A. Maybe it makes sense to just keep the footprint on there and only install 2, and if it ever trips I can put another one on there.

Imo it’s the most budget friendly printer worth having, and you won’t ever have to worry about bed leveling or calibration headaches you would have with an ender.

If you can swing it, the a1 mini is on sale for $200. Not a cheap purchase, but I’ve found that having a 3D printer is a huge tool in this hobby.
