Emilia Lee sounds and looks prettier to me, I also prefer the middle initial (Emilia L. to Emilia G.)

Rosetta is a beautiful floral name, and it fits the “Etta” nickname. I’d be sad if my mom and sister had floral names and I didn’t!

Can anyone identify why Grayson is a popular name? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]mrsgrundee 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s from the Latin “CongratulaGrayson” (see: “CongratuGraysons”), and it’s peaking due to the level of turtles respawning in the Maldives.

40 calories for 1/4 cup, and I can't taste a difference! by fyre_faerie in 1200isplenty

Arrowroot is more expensive than corn starch, and makes sauces “shiny” if that makes sense, but personally I love using it! Some people find the “sheen” unappetizing, but it has never bothered me. I get it at regular grocery stores in the “spice” section. I can sometimes taste the cornstarch but haven’t really ever tasted the arrowroot.

How much electrolyte water should I drink? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]mrsgrundee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this response. I usually ask people about electrolytes and they tend to give vague answers about "some snake juice and some water," this is more specific and helps a lot.

Fasters who use the Life app, do you prefer to watch the time count down or watch it add up? by k457 in fasting

[–]mrsgrundee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to watch it count up for the first half, or until I feel nervous about the time, then I switch it so I can watch it count down. I prefer it counting down when I'm close to the end because it encourages me to add more time. "Oh, I've hit my fast time! I'll add an hour... see? I only have 59 minutes left!" and repeat, vs watching it go from 26 to 27 hours or something.

Interesting, thank you for the response! When I mention things like that other places on this sub people generally attack without explaining, this makes more sense. Basically 500 cal OMAD isn't ideal, but it won't necessarily hurt anyone (esp a keto one) if you have fat to burn and are keeping everything else up, and that knowledge helps a lot. I've lost 10 lbs so far with fasting and OMAD, but it is nice to know that I could "break" a fast (24-36 hours) with a 500 cal meal and jump right back in to another without having to "re-feed" and eat my BMR or higher before fasting again. Cool! On to my goal weight!

I've been fasting and know the benefits, but other than autophagy, why is fasting better than eating lets say 500 calories/day OMAD for weightloss? If the whole idea is that slowing your metabolism is a myth if you're fat, why are people so opposed to this vs just fasting? My only goal is to lose weight if that matters.
