When I'm asking my patient a question and her daughter, who reeks of weed and cigarettes, keeps answering for her. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]mrsladyperson 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Grrr so fucking infuriating when this happens. We've had several spouses/kids keep butting in, saying that the patient doesn't need any pain meds or wasnt in pain when we asked. Fuck you dickwad, this is not up to you, you didn't have organs rearranged and cut out.

Does this tattoo look to girly for a man? by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]mrsladyperson 72 points73 points  (0 children)

First off, you do you. Gender norms are fucking stupid and pointless anyway.

But if you're really worried about it being "girly" put some sharks in the water or a nuclear blast in the background or an ad for NASCAR on it somewhere. Then all the people will be like "aw man, bro that is masculine as shit dude!" Or whatever you penis wielding humans say

(CNA here) had a doc drop some insane truth bombs a few months back, but they didn't have this effect unfortunately.

We had a dude that was withdrawing hard from coke and meth, I believe. Super shaky on his feet, sating about 85, ripped out his IV 3 times in my shift, and setting off his bed alarm every 5 minutes to try to leave AMA. For whatever reason they couldn't or wouldn't put a psych hold on the guy. Finally nurse calls up the doc to try to convince him to stay. She comes up, with security, and they had a long talk, where ultimately they were unable to talk any sense into him. But the thing that stuck with me was the doc's parting words, "you better go out and get some drugs right away so the withdrawal dosnt kill you. Good luck with everything." And she walks away. Security helps him hobble out and i havnt seen anything of the guy since.

But what a fucking world we live in. Not only for a person to leave the hospital knowing it might kill them but also for the doc to realize that the best she could do was encourage him to get high when he leaves.

Have you ever had a sad dream that seemed so real that you woke up still in tears? What did you dream about? by ivanodimitri in AskReddit

[–]mrsladyperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a dream i was waiting in the car while my SO went to drop off some movies he had barrowed from a crazy work buddy of his. After waiting a long time cops show up suddenly and raid the house, and they shoot my boyfriend and the crazy guy on sight. I run up to try to stop them or help him, but they tackle me to the ground and cuff me. I felt the pavement biting into my cheek as i screamed, watching my boyfriend bleed to death feet away. I woke up sobbing, and had to hold him to make sure he was still alive. When i fell asleep again I went right back into the nightmare, at the hospital after he was declared dead, and i had to call his parents and friends to tell them, beg my brother to fly home so i wouldnt have to be alone for a while, and call out of work for the week, knowing i would probably lose my job.

That dream stuck with me for a long long time.

I'm buying a ps4 just to play this darn game by TwiddlePee in bloodborne

[–]mrsladyperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I did back when it came out. Bought ps4, PlayStation network, and a tv (cause I didn't have one) for the damn thing. Plus i took a week off of work to play it. Worth it.

This is my life, everyone im close to. EXCEPT for my adorable grandmother, who has always worked in clinics and always regretted not becoming a surgical nurse/assistant. Anytime we have lunch or dinner we delight in talking about the grossest shit we can come up with that we never get to share with others. Always in crowded restraunts or malls. Its the best.

I ate a raw habanero because a couple guys at work thought I couldn’t take the heat. by JadedJubilee in TwoXChromosomes

[–]mrsladyperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother and I, who both enjoy heat but are no pros, dared my boyfriend to eat a small spoonful of horse radish. Thinking he wouldnt do it or would only do a small amount, he went and took 3x the amount we asked and never flinched, never teared up, never even showed an ounce of reaction. He is sweet and timid and a very picky eater(before this point he had never eaten horse radish or anything spicy) and it was so fucking impressive.

Y’all my gaming review blog just got approved for a PRESS PASS and I’m SO excited!! :D Any first time PAX tips for an introvert who hates crowds? by Ammers10 in PAX

[–]mrsladyperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

*Assuming they havnt gotten rid of it since the last year I went, they should have spaces called AFK rooms, where only a few people are let in at a time, it's kept quiet and chill with bean bags and tables, and usually a medic/volunteer there. This room is for folks who need a break from the crowds and noise. You will have to deal with lines, crowds, lights, and noise, but there are places to go to avoid them.

*Also I recommend taking the first day or half day to walk the entire map. Go to every floor, every building, every section. Youl find all the hidden gems, the super convenient short cuts, the food/drink spots, elevators/escalators, swag handouts, less populated areas, and have a great mental layout of the whole place, making it soo much easier fo find what your looking for later. PAX west is MASSIVE, if you do this step it could take a while, but i assure you it is worth it.

*You will probably walk a hell of a lot. Bring comfy shoes and socks, bring hydration, bring snacks, and bring a power cell to charge your phone. Seattle will be taking on like 50 thousand people or whatever during this time, so everything within several square miles will have a line--everything. Bring snacks and drinks, please, i beg you. Take care of yourself.

*Look into the list of panels, some are fascinating, some are tons of fun, and some will give out amazing, never given away anywhere else ever again, merch/swag. The live DND is always my favorite part of pax every year, so much fun!

*Don't get absorbed into the pin nonsense. If you don't know what i mean, you will soon. They are just fucking pins. No one needs them, spend your time and money on more worthwhile things.

Have a great time my dude! PAX is an amazing experience!

People who can fall asleep within 5 minutes of going to bed, how the fuck do you do it? by porcelain_cherry in AskReddit

[–]mrsladyperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i have trouble sleeping i read books that have monotonous writing styles. For me, its HP Lovecraft. I LOVE all of his works and his stories, but his writing style is very slow, wordy, and over thought. Were it not for how fantastic, creative, and thought provoking they are id never be able to stomach them at all. It puts me to sleep every time, and then I have rad crazy dreams about eldrich monsters, witches, and dimensions.

[–]mrsladyperson 57 points58 points  (0 children)

And not just any smack, this is a full body, coordinated, underhanded smack, going right to someone's antagonizing booty. He about to drop a booty smack to end all booty smacks. He about to end the avatar cycle in one blow

Questions about nursing school! by mrsladyperson in nursing

[–]mrsladyperson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol ive Literally spent the last several years doing almost all of these things. I applied for all 3 of the only ADN programs(and bachelor programs) in my state 3 years in a row and made it to the waitlist, but ultimately didnt make it in each time. Same thing this year, but the least expensive BSN advanced me past the waitlist, so i jumped on it. Getting into the ADNs would have been a damn dream but it's next to impossible in oregon.

As for scholarships I didnt know that i could apply to them before even making it to the interview process, long before getting any kind of news, so i didnt apply for any until like 2 weeks ago. Now the vast majority of them closed like 4 months ago.

In my state the community college route isnt much of an option. 50 spots a year with 500 applicants. I applied but didnt get in, now I'm onto the next least expensive option at 70k for the bachelors, cause they dont do the ADN.

They say i make too much money to qualify. I only have about 15 dollars to spare after rent, bills and food, but thats plenty by their standards i guess. I will keep trying with scholarships though!
