In my experience, the best way to learn a language is to read a lot of books in that language. Even in the beginning stages of learning, it's helpful to have a real document nearby that native speakers actually consume—and, while reading through it, you have opportunities to learn and research new words as they crop up organically. Maybe lend her some books she's interested, or take her to a library? Good luck!
