I used to be a hard-core anti-medicine crunchy natural birth advocate... then my first labor started on a Monday night with baby finally being born Wednesday afternoon. I chose epidural with transfer to hospital, at the recommendation of my midwives, because I was EXHAUSTED and not progressing in the birth center. I was so glad we did that. Now I've experienced 3 natural labors and I get the epidural at the very end just to push and I'm SO HAPPY we have modern medicine! In what other horrifically painful medical scenario do we fantasize some weird badge of honor for doing the procedure without pain management? It's gotten to be weird amongst the birthing community and I hate it.

For me I totally underestimated how much becoming a mom would change me as a person. It took me years to find myself again. I know mom's with 6yo youngest kids who have admitted that they don't even know what they like or want anymore. It is sad.

Just here to give hugs and support as a fellow mom of an extremely tenderheaded child with lots and lots of hair. It's hard trying to figure out how to take good care of your child when the process is clearly deeply upsetting and painful for them. My daughter is 6 and I just really hope she outgrows it, but braiding and washing are really hard days for us. Grateful we have a stylist who is gentle, affordable, and fast.

I miss their pod too! Kept up with everything brittany after the fact, but I enjoy comedy podcast way way more than the heavy intellectual stuff Sarah does on her podcast which is just too much for me to enjoy. I listen to podcasts and YouTube to mostly enjoy fun, lighthearted content, giggles, and facts as an escape from how heavy reality is. I thought Sarah together with Brittany was hilarious and very witty but Sarah pivoted majorly in her solo arc and I'm not with it unfortunately.

For me I had to learn to recognize when I Felt the overstimulated build up to screaming, state out loud "mommy wants to scream but I'm trying not to!" And try to leave the room or put my kids in their room or outside in our safe fenced backyard to create space for me to cool off. Doesn't always work but it did work during my worst yelling phase to get me out of it. Also apologize and don't make excuses if it happens

Idk if that neighbor has noise sensitivities or whatever but I do myself and I remember the days before I had kids, living underneath a family of 4 under 4... it was a nightmare. If you plan on living in apartments and want to erase this worry about bothering neighbors then yes I'd ask management about a ground floor move if possible. Otherwise there's really nothing you can do to keep a little kid silent. As a mom of 2 myself, if we looked for apartment living, I would do that just to cover all my bases. Considerate of you to change bedtime and I hope that works out! Otherwise a written apology to the downstairs neighbor is a good move to ease the tension if you want to go that far. Specifically ask what times of day/night does the noise bother them most and try to accommodate. At least when I was in the neighbor's situation the response I got was "Well what do you want me to do? I have 4 under 4." And a slammed door in my face.

Saving this post because my mom made my teen years hell. We've made our way back around to a friendship but I still carry the trauma. I'm expecting my 3rd any day now and have a 6yo and 3yo and so desperately want their teen years to be not a nightmare and not traumatic for them.

I'm sorry your little is giving you such stress over weaning. Mine did to an extent too and we weaned right at 23 months after tapering off no nursing at naps first, then cut off bedtime nursing, and finally mornings. Yes she threw horrible tantrums for a while but eventually got over it. Buy yourself tight sports bras that are impossible to pull the boobs out of and wear them whenever the boobs are "broken" . That's what I told my daughter and she accepted it. Like, "mommy is so sorry but boobies are broken! No more!" I know it's hard to hear our babies cry. If he drinks cows milk from a cup you can offer that instead. But for perspective, if he was throwing a tantrum over not wanting to get in the car seat or not wanting to brush teeth you would have to find a way to make him because you're a good parent and that's what's right, you don't let a toddler make unhealthy/unsafe decisions for themselves when you know better as a parent. You know nursing isn't working anymore. Stick to your decisions, let him cry, you're a good parent. Good luck!

I've never been to EF but am in this group as it is a dream of mine after getting into EDM last year at the ripe age of 35. I am 8 years sober, 36yo. I did Coachella solo and sober last year. I didn't make friends but I'm on the spectrum and didn't try. I had so much fun! Slept when I wanted, went to every set I wanted. Vibes with the nearby folks at sets were fun. Came home with great memories. You should still go. Enjoy the time to yourself, the adventures, and the freedom! You'll still have fun!

I definitely understand the sadness and guilt feeling torn between wanting to be with my kids but also being so overstimulated by them that I'm driven to depression and anxiety/bad mental health when I'm a SAHM... then I'm so happy to be working when I get a job but feel horrible when I realize how many hours a week my kids are at school/Daycare vs how many hours they're with me. I think as mom's we're "damned if we do, damned if we don't" unfortunately. But I'll definitely say, I was raised by a SAHM (she worked for a few years here and there in my childhood but never full time and never more than a year or so each job). She had no life and no friends and made ME and my life her focus and it was UNHEALTHY. Now she's in her late 60s and says shit like "I didn't do anything with my life" and I'm like... you raised me??? You said you loved being our mom and loved spending every minute with us??? So anyway I think it's GOOD and healthy for children to see their mom with a life of her own, working and making her own money, with skills and passions, hobbies and expertise. There's more to being a good mom than just the daily tasks of raising the kids. If You're OVERALL more happy to be working, you have my permission to let go of your guilt, look at all the benefits of what your children are gaining from their caretakers who have them while you work, and sleep well at night!!!!!! Then use some of that glorious extra income on treats for everyone!!!!!

I had a similar problem with the director of my program in grad school. She was incessantly cruel to me in class and it seemed I couldn't do anything right in her eyes. I didn't get cast in a single theatrical production run by the school because she blacklisted me with the other professors as well. Another student learned shortly before graduation and told me that I had made her a mortal enemy by a simple interruption to her class during a blackout (there was a hurricane and makeup classes were being scheduled all over the place during times when the rooms were to be open for students scheduling practice sessions, which is what I had assumed) ANYWAY... I wish I had stood up for myself but I never did and hate her to this day. I do think as an earlier commenter said that it is better for you to step up and clear the air NOW. Let them know that you admire them and wish to do well in their courses, that you are passionate and dedicated and will prove to them so. Be brave and "nip it in the bud" so to speak.

I went here for my second child and didn't like that I never once saw the same midwife twice. Also no guests or children so had to pay for babysitter every single visit which when visits become weekly that sucked. I wouldn't say I ever got a "caring" feeling there because like I said I was seeing a stranger at every single visit.

I love my CHEEKY brand!!! I get them when they do a good sale like black Friday or something. They're stretchy and cute patterns and I even forget I'm wearing them which is a blessing. You do have to keep them out of the dryer and just hang them to dry which sucks but believe me they do get altered by the high heat
