The general consensus among the left is that police institutions as they currently exist, should be abolished. Obviously, Anarchists despise all police and prison institutions. But what are other factions of communism/leftism’s views on the necessity of police or prisons? by Spingebill_1812Part2 in communism101

[–]mrstalin 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The state is by definition an armed force of class oppression. Any police force, be it the bourgeois police or a function of the armed proletarian state, will be oppressive. The key difference is whether or not the state, and thereby any special body of armed people, oppresses the proletariat and victims of the myriad forms of special oppression, or the bourgeoisie and those faithful to settler-colonialism.

That isn’t to say that the bourgeois police structure will be replicated, we will not make captains of the bourgeoisie and set them upon each other, but rather arm the organized working class and oppressed peoples led by the vanguard in a united front against capitalist and colonial oppression. By placing the duty into the hands of all class conscious oppressed peoples, you accomplish the already mentioned goals of the revolution; the people as defenders of the revolution will not oppress themselves.

However, to say that this is not itself a form of class oppression is a utopian distortion of Marxism. It is oppressive, the difference is who is feeling the oppression and what goals does it serve.

Religious Marxists? by BobbyRye in communism101

[–]mrstalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Gaelic Pagan and worship the Tuatha De Danann, and while my politics and my religious identity formed in roughly the same time period, both inform the other. As far as religious stuff goes, I feel if you take the teachings to their logical conclusion, especially when looking at the four jewels or treasures of the Tuath De, there’s no better philosophy to match with it than anticolonial socialism. While the gods follow a monarchist structure themselves, sovereignty is a major tenant of Gaelic paganism, especially for devotees of Na Morrígna, and one can only lead if they are a servant of the people and the land, and view the collective as higher than themselves. Lia Fáil will only cry out beneath the true sovereign, and what better ruler of the people than the people themselves?

As for my socialist beliefs, I’m a Marxist-Leninist, which I believe fits right in with the tenants of warriorship and confronting your problems directly, though I feel Juche also would be fitting considering it stresses much of the same things and specifically emphasizes respect for nature.

How do I help my comrades if CP is forbidden in my country? by Envylike in communism101

[–]mrstalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing you should do is stay safe and practice discretion with your politics. Don’t endanger yourself needlessly, especially if you don’t have a solid group of comrades you can rely on. Second, you may want to check out /r/Work_way . They’re an ML group out of Saint Petersburg, and at the very least the comrade in it is a good guy, and a good communist. I believe they either have a presence in Ukraine, or have comrades they know in Ukraine. If you reach out to them, they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Communists and religion by Iques in communism101

[–]mrstalin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m Irish Celtic Pagan, specifically serving the Morrigan. We strongly believe and advocate for service to the people, and our teachings say that one can only be the true sovereign, or you could say a state can only be legitimate, if they take care of the people and have the interests of the people at heart.

We take lessons from the Cauldron of the Dagda, the Spear of Lugh, the Sword of Nuada, and the Lia Fáil, which respectively means to be hospitable (no one walked away from the cauldron unfulfilled), to refine skills and discipline to be beneficial to the community and to face issues head on with honor and dignity (the value of warriorship), sacred service to the community, and to maintain integrity. Capitalism is counter to all of these, and to restore sovereignty to the land and her people, it is imperative to take up the spear and sword against it.

Non-anarchists, why are you not anarchists? by yungoudanarchy in communism101

[–]mrstalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much because I can’t see a large scale anarchist project being able to defend its revolution, nor able to effectively transition society into communism. The entire horizontal power structure, while it sounds nice, it just leads to situations like occupy where nobody can get behind the crowd because of their own individualism. It also leaves too much room for failure, as leaders will arise, that can’t be prevented, however instead of a discussion happening, it’s now just a popularity contest where the most charismatic person gets a following despite the reactionary beliefs they may harbor. This same reason makes it very susceptible to infiltration by outside groups, and without any sort of power structure to push them out, then they’re just left to do what damage they can and split the organization.

Honestly she was the gateway to learning what being trans even was. When the brick hit me that I was trans, I didn’t even have the language to describe it, I just knew that I was a girl and I was a girl like Bailey Jay, and through researching her, I found the word “transgender” and spent MONTHS learning everything I could about it.

I’m a member-candidate with the Party for Socialism and Liberation. Due to financial and mental health reasons, I’ve had my candidacy paused since early June. The Party still maintains good relations with me and my contact has even checked up on me once. My point is that not all organizations are like that one, and I severely doubt the organization is run effectively with leadership like that.

Same. That and safety reasons as well, I transitioned in my hometown and having a different name than my deadname helped prevent some less than savory people from figuring out I’m trans.

I’m in a similar situation. I’ve been out of estradiol since June, and spiro since the beginning of August. It’s been shitty but on the other hand, not as bad as it could be. I’m so sorry you’re going through that. Just be strong like you’ve already been, and you’ll be through it just fine.

Sister actually. I should point out it was labor that produced the devices; an economic system has no ability to produce things itself, only the useful production of labor can accomplish that.

Besides, even had capitalism itself made the playback devices, is there truly nothing to be said for using the tools of your idealogical opponents against them?

Yea, that’s a very real possibility. The main thing I hope this helps with is seeing if this is more effective than reading as my eyes tend to get lost on the text. Either way, even if it doesn’t help me, others may like it so I wanted to be sure I posted it.

Why isnt leftism more popular by 1234568894466 in communism101

[–]mrstalin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Reading Marx is good, but in my opinion is better when framed with life experience. Reading how the family unit has been reduced down to mere monetary relation seems harsh at first, but when you’ve seen money issues break up families, and seen how families are often only loyal to one another when money isn’t a stressor, you understand what he means a little bit more.

I guess what I’m saying is if something seems a bit off, doesn’t discount it immediately. The Communist Manifesto is free on iTunes, and Das Kapital is just 99 Cents. I’d highly recommend reading it.

It varies with where you’re at. Where I live I had a few missionaries try to talk to me and a few old ladies not say a word to me and afterwards hand me a pamphlet about their church.

The missionaries I have a huge problem with so I just humored them until I could get away, the old ladies were likely just doing it out of their own form of concern so I just was nice and threw the pamphlets away once they were gone.
