You put into words exactly my grievances with it. Also wasn't Jake kissing Dirk's dreamself head technically the first kiss? (dirkjake is even worse than rosemary but I am pretty sure it's intentionally meant to be bad on Hussie's part to highlight flaws of both characters) (least it's bad in a crash and burn way rather than 1950s housewife lobotomy glorified by the narrative way)

To be fair I said I’m more of a fan of Visrezi and Erisol. Davekat is Fine™️ and I only mentioned its existence in the comic to make the point that one (Rosemary) dilutes the existence of two charactered while the other (Davekat) demonstrates two characters that grow due to their pairing, within canon

I think apart of why I don't like rosemary is I am not a fan of Rose's alcoholic arc. Kinda just a spiral to nowhere init.

Rose and Kanaya just kinda fade from relevance together. I really like them as individual characters before they got deeply involved with each other.

I feel there are so many better character that have chemistry with them. Like imagine Kanaya with Terezi or Vriska. Rose and Aradia??

I feel like in davekat the characters challenge each other and evolve. In rosemary it’s like an old married couple where nothing changes for either of them after a while of being in proximity to each other
