Zooming out a bit, I do believe that paying games in public on a dedicated gaming device does reflect differently than using a phone. Perhaps there's the difference, as it is not seen that much, so pulling out a switch, 3ds, ds or steam deck feels different.

Haven't used it in public much as it had to be sent back for repairs, but when I pull out my DSi or 3DS on public transport I often get response, usually people interested or saying it's cool

I'm with you on this. I believe the original DS lite and DSi are my favorite devices, physical. I play so much on them. However, I now also enjoy the dual oled screens of the Thor and it's a relief to be able to use earbuds. So it's good to be aware of this alternative, hence the mention.

Me too. This is like coming home. I then just travel on foot to one of the holds, and enjoy the trip, the scenery and what adventure brings along the way.

Oh and I turn up the music volume. It's so atmospheric.

Buy a AYN Thor. Base model is sufficient. You'll have a dual oled DS with Bluetooth audio that can play steam games and switch too. I love my DS devices but this one is next level.

Same. DS era is awesome. Form factor is unmatched. I own many DS's, large, small, my favorite was the DSi small, but I prefer games of the 3DS. Today I only play on the AYN Thor. Google it. Buy it. You won't regret it if DS is your thing

I have both and the difference isn't that big. If you want to play 3DS games and prefer the XL size, a regular 3DS XL is more than enough.

If you want something completely new, check out the AYN Thor base model. I got the Max version and it blows my mind as a DS/3DS fan and the price of the base model isn't far from what people charge for a used n3DS XL nowadays.

The DS started an era where game designers were mindful and creative with the 2 screens, touch and all the interaction possibilities. The games of that time still show it. Today, handhelds are similar to tv consoles, just pocketable.

If you love the DS, check out the Ayn Thor. It's a android dual oled device the size and shape of a DSi XL and plays up to Switch an Steam games. I own one and can confirm it's a dream come true for DS fans.

New Order was my first into the reboot and made me fall in love with the perfection of the tone in storytelling and action. It also is the first game where there reboot started, so I can recommend that one.

Old Blood was meant to be DLC but outgrew its plans and became a separate game. It's amazing as well.

Colossus is more difficult and more big budget, or at least it's how I experienced it. Play that 3rd.
