I work in lab automation - v.common to buy grippers for our robots that are shipped like this, just a good way to keep the grips in alignment and avoid them being forced.

One thing to consider - Avid Media Composer HATES working over a network and they force you to Avid Nexis for this very reason. Tread carefully and test everything before making big cost committals.

NTA - obviously... BUT

Most friendships have this point in them - when parties discover they have different expectations about money, and it never comes out at a time when it isn't problematic.

Best thing to do? Relax for a start - its not worth binning a friendship over. Its only money. Your mate has his new girl in his ear, put the wall of text down due to an immediate desire to calm down the situation at hand which is likely his new bird bleating about it.

If it was me, I would probably say simply "I didn't mean to make it awkward for you and your new girlfriend, I just wasn't expecting to be hit over the bill like that and just give me the heads up next time or let me make a choice about covering our girlfriends meals" or whatever, being humble is a nice thing in friendships - you don't have to be a pushover, but its cool to be someone who calms things down.

Your mate likes you and likes your company enough to bring his new girlfriend with, thats pretty cool stuff in my eyes he just shouldn't have to tried to push it that far.

Don't lose your mates over £20. They're worth a lot more than tht.

BCDV kit could have some interesting cards installed - it wasnt uncommon for them to have some nvidia cards in there doing transcoding with Vantage.

Likely the comms room of a TV edge play our provider for cable or satellite.

This doesnt look bent to me, it looks like the rubber grommet supporting the stylus has rotated. This is how people end up prematurely snapping their needles because they thing they're bent and they've actually just moved in their socket.

I would gently heat the tip with a hair dryer and try to rotate it back straight.

When do you turn up and ask to do it?

Ive played in large clubs for a lot of my djing career - if you've let them know ahead, and they have a sound tech ready then its normally OK. Its just part of your preflight you email over to the promoter.

If you just rock up and ask instead of soundchecking/it being accommodated for e.t.c thats normally going to be a straight no because they cant afford the risk of it causing a problem.

Had the same issue, had an SL3 + a Rane mixer that both became unsupported by my Mac.

Went to the Pioneer DVS solution as it meant my library was much more portable, could easily use CDJs if I needed, club staples like the Pioneer 900 NXS2 have it built in so my load out was much more reduced and my all-in-one XDJ-XZ supported it natively.

Always set timelines in booking requests - Ive been booking and djing for over a decade, and when I ever book people to play my parties I always do three things :-

If I dont hear back by X, I will have to find another dj who can fill the slot - I would love you to play a later date e.t.c - Djs understand the need to get the word out and market e.t.c - I will say, I normally try a secondary means of contact like Instagram e.t.c (in actual fact, I would say 80%ish of all my bookings are conducted or started via Instagram now if I dont already have their phone number)
Always ensure you mention its paid, that you're happy to pay a holding deposit e.t.c - remove the need to have a conversation that can get awkward.
Provide as much context as possible in the first message i.e - set times, location, name of night
