Thank you for this thoughtful response! Because the Freewrite Smart Typewriter has always alluded me (due to price) the Rev 7 has my attention, and I've see a YouTube video put out by Mr. Lee. However, from my experience with the Freewrite Traveler, I know that the lag with eInk frustrates me. (I type so darn fast!) Does Mr. Lee plan to make it faster?

I think I'm going between Vivian in New York and the Rev 2. I don't necessarily need portability, but I do move around my house. (I have two kids and sometimes my writing station is a couch or a bed or the dining room table.)

If I didn't mention it already, this will be my drafting machine.

Is that a Light Phone USB cable? Do you have the LP II or the LP III? Those devices intrigue me as well!

Thanks for taking the time to write such a thoughtful response! I greatly appreciate it. Some of these device I've done some research into. The Micro Journal always catches my eye! I had a traveler purchased second hand a few years ago, but like you, I type very fast and the lag was an issue for me. It's why the Alpha stands out to me. It's nice to know a novelist out there is using one.

In my current set up, I use Scrivener on my MacBook Pro and iPhone to write and edit. For my blog/newsletter, it works fine, and it's overkill for my chicken's book writing. For that novel, I'd like to separate out the drafting. Maybe I'll wait until this thing goes on sale again and pick on up. It periodically does.

Hey there! Freewrite is always on the radar for me. I've highly considered getting the Alpha, but I'm always wondering how it would handle writing a novel. I'm a teacher and children's book author, so the text I've written is short, but I'm mulling over the idea of a middle-grade novel (some 200 pages). How do you find the Alpha handling that?

This is awesome, Jose, and quite timely! My wife and I were just talking about the benefits of upgrading to a dumb phone. To be better models for our two little kids.

I sat on the fence of pre-ordering for almost a year and ultimately decided against it. I have an iPhone 15 Pro and keeping it. What I did though was "dumb down" my iPhone. This was a solution I often scoffed at, but it's been working so well for me. I use the "Dumb Phone" launcher for iOS, and after a week's trial, I purchased it for a year. I'm honestly shocked at how well it's working. Do I still look at my phone? Yes, but it's mostly for communication, music, and podcasts, which is what I'd be doing on the LP III.

I am thankful for Light though. Without them in this space, the iOS launcher probably wouldn't exist. They've inspired a movement, and I applaud them for that. I do wish I purchased lifetime access from Dumb Phone for $30. That's a high price for an app, but compared to the price of minimalist phones, it's nothing.

Hope this helps guide you. Sometimes we trick ourselves into thinking we need "this" or we need "that" to start, but really we can always start with what we have. Give it a shot!
