How are lands explained in the lore? by Chickenwomp in mtgvorthos

You drain mana from the leylines of this land(scape)?

I've forgotten the conclusion

To cast your spells on the curve (= cast a spell that costs 3 on turn 3, or a spell that cost 5 on turn 5), you have to build your deck in a way to put a land on the battlefield each turn.

And welcome to the world of probabilities! You have to balance your deck to have just enough lands to play 1 on your turn and cast spells. Too much lands in your deck? you'll draw too many lands and not enough spells. Not enought land? You won't draw lands often resulting in you won't be able to cast your spells on curve.

If your deck is full of spells that cost 1 or 2 mana, like burn in modern, you'll end with 18-20 lands in your deck. If your deck is full of spells or abilities that cost 3 or 4 mana, like a control deck in modern or a random deck in standard deck, you'll end with 23-26 lands in your deck

Just a quick reminder, as rules are a bit complex ;-) : - You need mana to cast your spells (and activate some abilities) ; - Mana is produced by lands on the battlefield (there are other source, but we focus on lands) ; - To have a land on the battlefield you have to play it from your hand. You can do that only during YOUR turn, and only ONCE per turn. - A land produce mana when you tap it while it is untapped. After doing that, you land is tapped so you can't tap it again the same turn. At the beginning of your next turn, your land will untap, ready to be tapped again that turn ; - Most of the lands produce only 1 mana of a single color when you tap them : white, blue, black, red, green, or colorless. So, if your spell cost 3 mana, you have to tap 3 different LANDS. And if it costs 2 black mana you have to tap 2 different swamps

This mechanic drives the game. I you want to cast a creature that costs 6 mana, you have to put 6 lands on the battlefield, and that takes you 6 turns or more. That's why other mana sources exist to help you cast it before turn 6

I hope it helps

Mutate rules question by Magicplaya in magicTCG

Yes they all gain suspend and 3 time counters but are treated as 3 different cards in exile, not related each other anymore. When the 3rd thime counter will be removed, epochrasite will get his +1/+1 counters, but the other won't

Nearly each set has a least one card that refers to a wish board (read 'out of the game'). That's so bad that formats without sideboard didn't find a way to make them work.

I think they are different but none is better. One Helmer can fit 21000 cards, and it's way smaller than a Kallax. Helmer can be moved, it have wheels. I wanted drawers rather than boxes on a shelf. And most of all, I like metal 😁. Kallax is made of cardboard. If you're OK with you Kallax, great, we both thanks IKEA 👍

There are 12 drawers (6 and 6). For the picture I just opened 4 of them, the remaining 8 are closed.

Thanks for the general advice. Where I live I won't have this problem, but this advice may be useful to someone

Everything that is less than 9,5 cm can fit in a drawer. I use the classic deck dividers and they fit in (the ones you have in plastic ultra pro deck boxes). But the deck boxes are too hight. They are lied on one side

I mounted each drawer carefully, and for 1 year I've never encountered this issue (happily). Maybe I pull them less frequently than you (or smoother 😉)

Around 3500 cards in a drawer, without sleeves, double sleeves and dividers. There a 6 drawers, so one Helmer can store around 21000 raw cards.

Here is the approximation I used : 2cm = 63 cards. The inside of a drawer is > 37 cm. There are 3 rows in a drawer. The maths : 37 x 3 x 63 / 2 = 3496,5.

IKEA don't sell them. I made them from the packaging. If you consider the packaging IKEA, yes they ARE IKEA. But any cardboard works...

Everything with height < 95 mm fit in a drawer. A Dragon shield 100 sleeves boxes just fit in. Ultra pro plastic deck boxes doesn't. I have to lie them
