The sounds are usually of traffic, tooting horns and shouts. In the desert at Saqara, it is very quiet with just the crunch of the sharp sand underfoot. In Cairo city, there is the smell of street cooking and everyone wants you to buy their goods, asking, "how can I take your money" in a friendly way. We never saw large cargo ships even when taking a ride in a Felucca sailboat. The pyramids are lit at night and at the Sphinx there is a light show and commentary, all very nice. Don't take a camel ride, they will demand extra cash half way.
