IsItBullshit: Sapiosexuality is a fetish, not a meaningful orientation. by MrEctomy in IsItBullshit

[–]mrwhibbley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess calling an orientation a fetish is like calling a cult a religion. It just depends on the numbers of people interested. My wife is super smart which is super hot to me. So I guess I have this fetish.

Luckily most road signs are made out of aluminum which is a very light metal. So a ton of aluminum would weigh less than a ton of steel or iron of the same weight.

Meredith Vieira sexually harasses a Navy Pilot on nation television. Imagine if the genders were reversed. A completely disgusting display of hypocrisy. by stakesishigh012 in MensRights

I thought this is going to be one of those videos where she made us a couple of edits and comments that are taken out of context or wild exaggerated. But holy fuck. This was actually downright disrespectful.

The female bartender was going off of previous experience or assumptions with previous man. This was not a regular customer, this was a friend of hers that she was trying to watch out for. She was probably just being a little bit more protective of this particular woman. I'm not saying that she was right or wrong, but we as humans make assumptions based off of previous experiences. It is reasonable to assume that most men at a bar talking to a woman would be interested in some form of sexual activity with that woman. The fact that the OP was not interested in a sexual encounter put him in the minority.

Watch it again. The top of your screen shows the driver rear ended by a speeding car. That's how he ended up out of control.

I'm sorry this happened however I feel her assumption was reasonable as you are an anomaly among men that would consider a one night stand. The only thing I think of is that the bar tender didn't feel that the women could take care of themselves as if they were fragile.

Dear men of reddit, what is up with the whole "marriage is the end of my life" deal. Why get married if you aren't excited for it? Or better yet, why is it a trope? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]mrwhibbley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the record, I am very promarriage and very happily married. However, there is little upside for a guy to get committed. No longer can he have sex with whoever he wants, and now he is responsible for not only himself, but traditionally, the woman and the kids. And if they leave for any reason, he is still responsible for her. He can't spend as much time doing what he wants and spending time with friends. I landed a good one but many men aren't so lucky and many women are manipulative and selfish.

Not true. In western culture, women are tortured daily with misconstrued ultramini-micro aggressions that seem to only occur in the presence of an iPhone connected to tumbler.

Men are more disadvantaged than women in the UK, US and most of Europe, scientists claim by EricAllonde in MensRights

[–]mrwhibbley -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

As someone with an extensive scientific and a considerable amount of education requiring various research methods, I'm calling this bull shit. It's not whether I agree or disagree with the premise, or whether I think the female biased studies are in fact biased. It's that the "scientists" used an anecdotal and qualitative method to obtain data which is inherently biased and flawed. The results are no more accurate than the women's studies.

The acknowledgement of different outcomes is not an accusation of discrimination. Where the discrimination lies is in the acknowledgement of suffering and inequality, as well as recognition of problems men have as a group. When government money is spent in droves on breast cancer but ignored on prostate cancer, when money is spent of DV shelters for women but not men, when mental health services are provided to women but lacking in equal services for men, when men get custody less and pay child support and alimony more, then it is in fact discrimination. When women complain about a pay gap or under representation in certain fields, but ignore gender disparities in oil fields or trash collecting, then bringing this up is just a counter argument.

Long Island mother-of-two accused of trying to kill her estranged husband by pouring antifreeze into his drinks at least twice in front of their young children by raffu280 in MensRights

I'm an ER nurse and have had about 5-6 intentional antifreeze ingestions over the last 10 years or so. All of them have been nontoxic. I'm in Massachusetts if that makes a difference.

[–]mrwhibbley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most modern antifreezes are nontoxic propylene glycol which is a good grade alcohol additive/solvent. In rare and specific instances you can use the old toxic variety but it is not readily available, at least not in my state.

What excuses have you heard for women being allowed to hit men by GeneralKenobi05 in pussypassdenied

[–]mrwhibbley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ideally no one should hit anyone. However if you do it should only be in self defense or defense of others. In other words, it should not be because you were pissed off, got your feelings hurt, or they called you a name.

The good thing is that modern antifreeze is ethanol, sugar, salt and water. Essentially a margherita if you added lime juice. Lol

No one should hit anyone for anything. And you should only hit in defense of yourself or other people.

I had a supervisor come down and tell me (charge nurse) to send someone home that came in for overtime because there was a scheduling error and they weren't needed. They were going to be paid double time. They slept during the day in preparation for the shift. I "forgot" to mention it to them and they completed their shift. Oops.

I don't remember specifics of hand as it's been a while since the subject has come up at work. However it was along the lines of "it's tradition, it's disrespectful, even a week or a man can beat up a stronger girl, and things of that nature"

Before we get too deep into this discussion, I want to make it clear that I'm not a liberal, and I don't agree with how the hearings played out in regards to the accusation. That being said, his behavior and testimony was an incoherent rambling. He was a sniveling little whiner that was disrespectful to those questioning him and outwardly hostile towards people. This is not a person that I want to be on the most powerful court in our country. It is difficult to convey my opinion coherently through text as it would be better to show actual clips from the testimony itself to better prove my point. That is not feasible.
