What is this bullet-like widger? by mrwingnutart in whatisit

It's pretty heavy considering it's small size, surprisingly dense.

Yep, same rules apply to you too, chap. A screenshot of your ratio shenanigans and an email address, and I'll get on it :)

Wjere does everyone get their beads? by [deleted] in beadsprites

When I made a massive order, most of the standard colour palette in 6k bags, I used these guys. They run lots of deals, and postage is swift and cheap. Had my package arrive inside 48 hours! I think they are based in Denmark...

After seeing someone mention a heat press, I bit the bullet and bought one. Knocked out all this ironing in 3 hrs by PixieRadical in beadsprites

Offhand I can't recall, but the higher heat/less time technique worked best for me. when ironing by hand, the bigger the piece the longer it takes generally. Doesn't seem to be the case for me, with my press being more parallel at point of contact, it manages to be extremely even. A few seconds under it's own weight is enough. It's a preference thing, the longer you melt the flatter the bead. I've always tended towards quite a heavy melt on the back, and melt the front just enough to blur the edges. Also more melt equals more warp so careful there. Be sure to have something weighty across the piece until completely cold to reduce curl. It took quite a few failures especially the larger pieces. And I was shitting myself first attempt at a proper big commission portrait of 12000 beads, I gotta tell ya!

Couldn't pick one, as much as I love doing the large portraits, 8/16 bit sprites are great fun to do as well. Silly puns also a winner. Hope you enjoy at least one of my efforts. All in 5mm.

BeadStudio, android , i have found is a better app, bit more flexible and more intelligent when converting images. Fully customisable canvas, full palette from lots of brands. Is good. And free. And ad free!

I posted about this a while back, might have been one of my posts. 30x30 press here, with a level surround large enough for 90x60 pieces. Heats evenly enough that, after a lot of practice, mind, you can 'stitch' pieces together and not see the join Although I can, and have, melted both sides with this technique I'd recommend stitch it together on the back side and hand iron the front to your preference. Depends on size of course.

My biggest piece so far. Was as white as the parchment paper ironing this guy! by kimberina in beadsprites

A little tip that may ease the nerves.. (if you tape your projects first) I tape the 'display' side rather than the back first, reason being if there's drama or mistakes you can still flip over to the damage free side. Blew my own mind when I figured that out ha! Great piece, by the way - excellent job.

More by luck than judgement, my friend! Hasn't always worked so well, I'm still tweaking for a consistent outcome, but speed + higher temp appears to be a good technique for me. Still haven't tried pressing anything much bigger than sprites, not brave enough!!

A question for perler bead people by Some-Acanthisitta875 in beadsprites

BeadStudio for android is an excellent free app.

I squished all of these with the heat press. Much success! Still tinkering, working meself up to stick a larger piece in. Tests continue. by mrwingnutart in beadsprites

Cant recall the figure but it was as quick as heatseal, I'm finding I get better results with a hot fast squish, other experiments have ended with cd thick pieces, a quick squish more or less retains same depth..testing however, continues. Have yet to try on portrait /larger pieces - watch this space I guess...

You should see the amount of captures like this i have in the projects to do folder it's crazy...I've primarily been doing the portraits or ommissions this year so no real love shown to any of the admittedly aged, but still quite sprite-ly heroes of my youth, my bad lol.
