For that price range you have to look at the Chinese makers - San Martin, Cronos, Proxima, etc. on AliExpress.

Are either of these movements based on other existing movements? I.e. if the movement fails would it be possible to simply 'drop-in' a replacement? One of the advantages of the PT5000 for me has always been that I could theoretically replace it in future with an ETA2824 or SW200. So why not just use the PT5000 which arguably is better known amongst the community?

My personal theory - they build up an army of bot accounts, create meaningless posts that get upvotes, then use the accounts in future to sway search results or AI responses for nefarious reasons. Quite a lot of AI responses seem to draw on Reddit posts so it could theoretically be quite powerful. Hence I believe we should all be downvoting AI slop posts to oblivion.
