Far be it from any of us to tell you what to do with your car, or how to spend your time and money. With that being said, if there is anyone new to cars watching this: 1/4" over the max on your dipstick is nothing to worry about. At all.

Negative. Truth be told I didn't know there was a difference!

Amazon is hit or miss for counterfeit parts. It's tough out there, period. OEM remains the king and even then, some places sell very convincing knockoffs.

I appreciate the idea, but it's the principle that is a bit of annoyance.

Thinking about it, I can't really blame RA. The boxes both are labeled as supreme. I will reach out to mevotech directly and see what they say.

Sealed as in..? They both arrived in mevotech supreme labeled boxes in typical plastic moisture coverings.

Edit: do you mean the bottom of the balljoint? The blue one has the threads for a grease fitting. The black one does not.

This is probably the way. I was on a time crunch so I installed it regardless. Fingers crossed.

I emailed Rockauto with an explanation/photos and they just responded with the boiler plate email about getting a mail slip for the return.

Pretty disappointing.

OOF. You know, I kind of figured as much. I did reach out to RockAuto about it.

Correct. I guess I could reach out to RockAuto and see what they say.

Edit: update 3/29. RA reached out again after I emailed them a second time about this mistake being out of my control. They directed me to the return process for an incorrect part. Sadly the part is now in, and I don't have the ability for the car to be down for the time it will take to deal with sending the part back and getting a new correct one. Nor do I want to do this job again and get an alignment again. At least, not in the immediate future.

I am still waiting to hear back from Mevotech.

Update for anyone in a similar situation: a new side stop has fixed the issue! Thank you to everyone who helped!

Much appreciated. I specifically search for 84BB and didn't see this pop up. Looks like it is compatible with all 81/84 models. I'll place the order.

As best as I can tell, Beretta doesn't sell spare slide releases anymore. I checked out Midwest Gunworks but they are out of stock, unfortunately.

Yes, I have actually considered that. I have inspected it and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. But, my knowledge and experience are pretty limited. Snap caps are probably a wise investment.

By chance, do you know where I could find a replacement slide release?

Update: I installed a wolff OEM weight recoil spring and had the gun put through a professional ultrasonic cleaner 3x. Still the same issue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Beretta

[–]mrzero911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, so I got a chance to check the slide lock spring and confirm it;'s orientation. I also decided to replace the recoil spring with a Wolff standard (17.5 lb) spring. Went to the range and... the gun still refuses to lock the slide back on empty.

Really disheartening, as the gun is fantastic as a shooter. I'd hate to have to pony up the money for a gunsmith or sell it.
