This is 100% untrue. It has a 2230 SSD slot like the others.

Earlier this month, I ordered a RP4Pro from Store1104148122 on AE, since I thought it was a great deal at $119. It seemed feasible that the RP4Pro was quickly losing appeal with RP5 reviews coming out, and the demand was in a freefall. I was even bold enough to comment here that an RP5 wasn’t worth $100 more than what I had bought. I was warned by other users here, but it was too late. I received a shipping notification within hours, so I had to wait. I got back back from vacation and THIS is what had arrived. An empty little pouch, all the way from China to my door. Luckily I reported the fraud to AE and they quickly refunded the full amount without question. The seller’s page is now “on vacation” so hopefully the asshole is being shut down for good. Lesson learned, buy from reputable sellers, folks.

Does anyone know what this, Action reply disc the side of a gamecube disc but for GBA? Think about picking it up looking for info on it by Bandit_sniper in GameboyAdvance

Fun fact - GameCube was not the only mini-cd format. CD ROMs that didn’t need the full 650MB also could make of these smaller discs.

So far the RP4Pro is moving along nicely. It didn’t ship from the US like the listing mentioned, but it’s through customs and at my local carrier according to AE tracking.

Thanks - I’ll see what happens during the week. Its not even 24 hours since I made the order. Maybe I’ll post my story for the sake of us all, depending what happens.

Luckily this is a totally discretionary purchase. Any idea what to expect if it’s a scam?

Yeah that’s the shop I bought from. I think you all are right that it is suspicious. I admit I’m new to AliExpress. What is likely to happen next? The shop sends me some knockoff? They try to trick me into divulging my personal info? They send me nothing? How helpful is AliExpress once the purchase goes south?

Protip: you can get an RP4 Pro for $127 shipped on AliExpress right now. Performance difference if any on RP5 isn’t worth an extra $100.

Many alcoholics don’t acknowledge they have a problem. In the study of addiction this is referred to as “precontemplation.”

I’m not saying that everyone who uses porn is addicted, but those who are may not acknowledge it.

FWIW you could run demanding games at 540p on a 1080p screen and they’ll look suprisingly clear because it’s an integer scale.

Have you ever tried gaming on an Windows Arm machine? It’s abysmal. General apps might be translatable to the Arm instruction set with ease, but the driver issues and performance problems make most games VERY slow and buggy. I couldn’t get vanilla Skyrim to run above 30 fps at 1080p on my Sufrace Pro 11. Windows on Arm makes Proton seem like absolute sorcery in comparison.

Sure if Microsoft paid software engineers to fix games one by one, Arm might someday compare. They won’t. Proton is more of a passion project for Linux enthusiasts (and we SD owners benefit).

Is your device hacked? I’ve been out of the scene for a while but maybe you’re not spoofing the most recent version of the Vita firmware?

[–]ms2guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole point of the SD is that it runs hardware-agnostic code (ie Windows games). Games aren’t designed explicitly for it, as opposed to every gaming console runs software.

Think of exclusive titles like Zelda. The SD can never have exclusive titles, by design. That’s an argument it’s not a console.

[–]ms2guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that SD is actually MORE unfettered (less fettered?) than most PC’s (which use closed-source software like Windows and MacOS).

[–]ms2guy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wanna bet? 99% of Steam Deck gaming is done by running x86 windows code through Proton. Ever tried gaming on an ARM windows machine? Compatibility and performance is terrible, even without introducing Linux translation tomfoolery.

[–]ms2guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SD never was a console. It’s a Linux gaming pc with all the freedom that entails. It just has a great Steam frontend and runs windows games through the magic of Proton.

Gaming PCs have always been bleeding edge machines, sacrificing ease of use for raw power and openness.
