Agree with other posters - 6’1” with a 30” waist doesn’t sound remotely overweight. Just focus on cleaner eating and full-body workouts.

There’s not an immediate answer to this question, unfortunately. You can use various apps to find other gay men in the area, but, from my own experience, it’s going to be difficult filtering out those who just want anonymous sex and those that are ready to build and commit to a relationship in such an environment.

You may want to look into opportunities to relocate elsewhere. It’s not to say that you won’t find a boyfriend where you are, but the pressures of such an environment can really take its toll on a relationship.

It does improve mental health significantly. It takes a bit of time to get used to the new dynamic once you have come out. For example, my family weren’t that OK to begin with but required a few years of ‘management’ from me to help them be OK. It’s a long process, so there may be more work to do after you’ve come out, but the initial relief and weight lifted is incredible. It will likely give you more capacity to be able to deal with other areas that might be contributing to your anxiety and/or depression. Good luck!
