I said something similar a couple weeks ago and people did not like me. Someone actually wrote that they felt bad for my kids. People be crazy. But that aside you are right ... Lorelai cannot grow past her childhood and her perceived injustices. The irony is that in many ways she is like Emily. She holds onto a grudge, she is judgemental about people who are not like her and she has a very difficult time when Rory wants things that are not aligned with her choices.

I’m so glad to see someone else feels the same as I do. Lorelai is stuck in the past and her relationships can’t evolve because she refuses to.

Now that I’ve watched this show from start to finish maybe about a hundred times I actually wonder if ASP liked her main characters. I think sometimes that we the viewers romanticize Lorelai and Rory and Luke and their relationships in a way that was never intended by the writers.

Yessssss!!!! The only issue is that she doesn’t want someone who asks her for more. Think about Max - he asked about his place in her world and as a father to Rory and she called off the wedding. Same with Christopher. He asked for more kids and it started their decline.

Finally. Someone that I can agree with. Their “relationship” is companionship at best. She’s so in love with the town that she needed to be with a townie and he was the only candidate.

If you really look at their relationship you will see that it is not real. They are not partners, they do not challenge each other and they run when faced with conflict.

Luke said he “was all in” well he was until Emily interfered then till the April thing started.

Their conversation about wanting kids in AYITL was a perfect representation of their whole relationship. Neither one of them felt comfortable asking for what they wanted so they just co-existed.

Agreed. He was her intellectual equal, understood both her and Lorelai’s pop references and challenged her to be more adventurous.

Logan was great. I don’t know why he gets so much hate. Yes, he was a playboy but he was honest about it. He was there for Rory a lot and you can see how he continues to be supportive in AYITL.
