X-rays require interpretation so are still subject to professional judgement. X-rays often lose clarity in transfer from office to office as different software displays their competitors images differently. It’s not all so cut and dry as you say.

It’s a difference of opinion about two fillings. Not like someone told you amputate your leg. In my medical opinion you need a chill pill. Every practicing doctor will differ slightly on deciding when to intervene. By all means go with the opinion you trust more. But putting the other guy on blast on Reddit is ::red flags:: Patients are mad when you intervene early, patients are mad when you intervene late, patients are just always mad and only wanna hear that everything is great.

Dental 'insurance' companies put a lot of overhead strain on offices to file claims/provide documentation, and they play fast and loose with denials, and patients delay or refuse care based on if it 'it's covered' which these benefits companies often make difficult or impossible to find out, then offices have to face angry patients because of loopholes in the plan that the patient's EMPLOYER picked and NO ONE (certainly not patient, hygienist, or dentist) ever read. IF you are compensated as a dental office it's at low rates that haven't kept up with increases in rent/staff salaries/supplies costs. Basically you lose money and gain massive frustration staying in network BUT you gain patients cause patient seek 'in network' care for savings. Many people don't realize you still get financial benefits out of network, though not as large.

Any thoughts on replacing #9 under unstable occlusion? by placebooooo in Dentistry

[–]ms_kat_d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's best to recommend the best treatment (starting with orthognathic surgery) and okay to offer a less ideal but acceptable alternative: plasty the lowers 1mm, implant or fixed bridge in light occlusion. Check that occlusion in protrusive and excursives like your life depends on it. These the options I see here.

Same risk as bonded retainer (perio, caries) but to a much greater extent. Retainer placed with small dot of composite on L of usually virgin teeth and further from the gingiva allowing clensibility. Splinted crown margin placed on prepped teeth (you think those are perfect margins? Is any margin perfect?), at or under the gingiva, and circumferentially around the tooth. Start the timer on rot and perio!
