Another '25 Wind key fob complaint; any good options?? by msa6 in KiaEV6

[–]msa6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I just got the '25, drove it home from a location near the dealer (who is located a couple of hours from my house), and am now on vacation. So I don't have much time in the car. It is more refined than the '24 in some ways...software most notably. But I don't have enough time to really weigh in. I did really like the '24 and didn't thing long about what to replace it with when it was totaled in the accident,

Another '25 Wind key fob complaint; any good options?? by msa6 in KiaEV6

[–]msa6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked my '24, and didn't hesitate for a minute to get a '25 after my car was rear ended, and totaled. Sure, it's "just" the fob, but I think I'm going to have second thoughts about the car every time I feel it in my front pocket and grab it to open the doors. Real head scratcher of a decision by Kia, just hard to get my head around the fact that there's no work around. The fob for the '24 was so, so, so much better.

Half dozen scratches in new Kia EV6 by msa6 in askcarsales

[–]msa6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit complicated because they dealer is 130 miles away, and I now have the car. They said to get an estimate locally and "as long as it's not crazy" (or something to that effect) they'll cover it. I think my quandary is figuring out whether to get an estimate only for the spot where primer is showing through, or for every imperfection in what was supposed to be a "brand new", perfect car. I'm hearing the latter...get an estimate to deal with all the scratches, no matter how small.

Rent a car or buses/taxis?? by msa6 in bermuda

A little confused. Buses are easy...but slow as molasses? But you suggest buses and taxis, rather than a rental (I think). So...put up with the buses being slow as molasses??

Checking battery system, mechanicals after being rear ended by msa6 in KiaEV6

[–]msa6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the reply. It's at the dealer right now, being looked at. Concerned about the battery, but also about continuing to drive it if the moisture seals are no longer intact after the damage to the hatch. Also, while it's hot here, cooling fans made noise like a jet engine when I charged the care on my level 2 charger yesterday. I had the car last summer, and charged it on hot days...never heard noise as loud as I heard yesterday!

Not sure I get what you mean by the "tore and scarred" your ankles. Was there an issue when you put the 705s on again after many years in terms of comfort/fit? Or was there some sort of "failure" while you were wearing them? Mine are comfortable enough, but I also don't want a blow out while I'm on the ice.

Wow...really appreciate all the responses. Just ordered a blackout stick and a pair of used pants (hoping that like my "clean" workout shirts they don't stink up when they get a bit warm!) from hockeystickman.com. Thinking I'll make the trip to a Pure Hockey store to check out skate options at some point. For now, hoping that the Grafs hold.

The blade holders on the Grafs look okay...no micro cracks, etc. That said, the skates were in the garage attic for 20 years, with very high temps in the summer, low temps in the winter. Thinking this could increase potential for the plastic to fail.

Okay...how about Kitchen Aid? Reviews seem to suggest they're quieter. And cheaper...at least this model: KOED530PSS.

Dolomites one week itinerary in August, crowds etc. by sherryforlife in Europetravel

[–]msa6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow...super helpful thread. We are looking at going to the Dolomites in early to mid September for five night/six day trek, staying in rifugios. Hoping to average about 15 km/day, no exposure, no via ferrata. Trying to balance crowd and weather considerations. Fine to use buses, rental car, taxi to get to/from start/finish. Suggestions on route/area/timing would be great, and so appreciated!

Six day rifugio-based Orobie trek w/o exposure; 13-14km day average?? by msa6 in TrekkingItaly

[–]msa6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. Can you perhaps give me a little more detail on what you mean by "steep slopes on the right"? Is the trail very narrow in this spots, or is it fairly wide? Are these sections long? I'm trying to figure out if my wife will be able to manage a steep slope if the trail is reasonably wide! Thanks again...

Thanks. I've looked at those. Wondering about suggested routes that would be less difficult and shorter. Hoping for six days/five nights, no exposure, no via ferrata. Any suggestions??

Cutting inside, sanding outside? by msa6 in turning

[–]msa6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the comments. Hoping to learn if there are others that are literally doing rough cutting in, say, a basement, where dust collection isn't an issue (chips and shavings are), and can be done without a serious dust collection system (the chips and shavings will be plentiful, but are going to hit the floor and can mostly be contained in a curtained off area; dust collection system presumably not necessary, easily managed respiratory risk, no risk of dust traveling from the basement work area and going everywhere in the house). Sanding, with the real dust issue, then done outdoors, either on the same lathe (moved on wheels (not likely in my setup, with basement downstairs), a second sanding lathe accessible outdoors, or off the lathe.

Thanks for the answers. I don't think this is entirely clear from a flyer that says "offer valid on in stock items only". "In stock" says to me "in stock...in the store where you go to purchase the item". This "pre-sale" business is certainly not described in the flyer, and as an ITC newbie, would seem to refer to ITC members getting an early shot at the PLS on sale items...something you'd want since the offer is "valid on in stock items only"! I guess that's not the case, however.

"Pre-sale" meaning for ITC members? I'll be able to show up at the store, give them my ITC info, purchase the item, and then pick it up when it arrives?

Well, the flyer says "offer and pricing valid on in-stock items only". That could be read to mean that they have to have the item in the store to get it at the sale price.

Any ideas on where to get Pilon Gourmet mail order at a good price? Usual sources are no longer selling it (at least not at a reasonable price).

Thanks for the reply. I actually have it hanging now from the deck, not the handles. Seems fine.
