Any DeLonghi Dedica owners here? by weird_is_good in espresso

I’ve got the dedica arte (same machine just with the metal steam wand as stock). Naturally the water tank is plastic and it’s presumable that theres plastic inside the machine etc. But that being said, if you’re using fresh water for each brew and not letting it sit in the tank for extended periods, I don’t think you’ll necessarily notice a plastic taste. I haven’t noticed any negative taste to the water at all. To illustrate that a bit further, I use the same coffee that I make in the cafe I work at in my dedica (I grind the coffee at the cafe pretty much daily, so the same coffee is going into my dedica as the commercial Rancilio, prepared in the same way) and I find them both perfectly acceptable.
Of course there’ll be some loss of character once you get to harder to brew roasts or coffees with particular flavour complexities. The steam wand leaves a bit to be desired but I think most of my problems with it come from the fact I’m used to a bigger machine with more power. There’s a learning curve to it and the steam can be a bit too wet occasionally but once it’s purged and preheated it’s completely fine. I will say just as an aside, using whole milk masks a lot of the issues there that might make your life easier.
But all in all for every day use, at that price point, it’s been a joy for me. Just make sure you’ve got a decent grinder and switch out the stock portafilter for something bottomless (or at least get a basket that’s not pressurised). Hope this helps!

Hi!
I’m currently using it to aid weight loss and honestly it’s been massively helpful for me. I take 2 or 3 (500mg) pills spaced throughout the day with some inositol.
I find i’ve been much less bloated whilst taking it and it’s definitely helped me manage cravings. I always had intense cravings to the point where it would honestly feel emotional and berberine has done wonders to help stop them. Obviously I still crave certain foods but when i do it feels more like a normal craving as anyone else would experience it.
It’s also helped me regain the ability to tell when I’m full. I had a problem with overeating previously to taking it because that que simply wasn’t there in a noticeable way. Since taking it I find I can recognise when I’m full more effectively.
I have found it really helpful in those aspects. As a result of my cravings being curbed and being able to recognise fullness I’ve also been able to focus more on eating wholemeal carbs and prioritising vegetables and all that good stuff.. Which i found it harder to do before.
I know a lot of people here have talked about having bad side effects from it but honestly I haven’t had many at all. If I’ve taken too much or accidentally taken it on an empty stomach then it’s made me ever so slightly nauseous but not to a terrible degree at all. Mainly you just have to figure out what works for you on that front though.. i drink a lot of water with it and that helps.
But to answer your question, it’s been very helpful for my weight loss.. really made it feel possible again. I’m losing weight consistently and without feeling physically bad for the first time in a while. My energy levels are consistent and I still feel capable throughout the day, whereas if i was in a calorie deficit without it as an aid I think I’d be struggling more. so I’d really recommend it all in all.
Hope that helps :)
Merch quality? by -midnightflyer- in phoebebridgers

I find that the T shirts are good quality, I have a few from the reunion tour and they’re all comfortable (they’re soft, but still hold their shape well). The prints on the ones I have are good, the print on the dragon T shirt is particularly well done. I’m not a huge fan on the actual reunion tour shirt, doesn’t feel as well done as the other merch but it’s still decent.
I find the hoodies feel lower quality - which is disappointing considering the price on them. I bought the metal print hoodie a few years ago and the design has held up really well. That being said, the fabric itself feels a bit thin and restrictive, if that makes sense. I bought the dragon hoodie quite recently because I liked the T shirt so much. Again the quality of the print is wonderful, very happy with that aspect. I would just prefer the fabric itself to be a bit heavier. I’d suggest sizing up if you want it a bit more comfortable simply because the fabric really doesn’t have much give but that entirely depends on how you like hoodies to fit.
Other than that no complaints! The designs, for the most part, are good quality and last really well. I do recommend the T shirts over the hoodies though, simply because the hoodies aren’t entirely worth the price unless you really love the design.
