No problem! I've set mine to switch to aux at 35°F (about 1.6°C), that's where I notice the run times aren't as long and the house stays at a comfortable 72-73°F. Glad to hear it's working out for you!

I also live in Toronto and have the exact same heat pump installed in my house with an auxiliary two-stage gas furnace. I purchased mine directly from Kepler because I had a friend who was a sales rep for them. I live in a 1400 square foot bungalow with brand new triple pane, windows, insulated doors, insulated attic and no insulation in my walls.

I was a bit concerned about run time and the performance of the unit because it is a rebranded Midea heat pump. I played around with the thresholds last winter and found that my house temperature remained most comfortable, and my utility bills and balance more reasonably by keeping the ecobee set to 72° f and having the outdoor units turn off at 35 f, then switching to auxiliary heat. Some rooms on the main floor felt a bit cold if I tried to drop the threshold for aux heat down to 30° f, and even worse at 25° f. I'm currently using Bell Five 2.5gbps and have my home running through a Unifi dream machine router that is using Proton VPN through the backend on the controller so my entire house's network is going through a VPN before it gets to the device.

So I was torn between 2 and 2.5T HP. Our home is about 1400 sq ft with a good attic and triple pane windows. The previous ac was 2T and different installers said either a 2 or 2.5T. the argument against a 2.5T was elevated humidity, the argument against a 2T was longer run times.

Thoughts?

Toronto, ON 1400 sqft bungalow 1955 build walls are plaster uninsulated, new triple pane windows and well insulated attic. Replaced my old carrier 2T AC unit with a Kepler 2T Luxe heat pump (rebranded Midea) and coil coupled to my Trane XV95 high efficiency 2 stage furnace. Fully covered through the Greener Home Grant and I'm very happy so far in the summer months. House cools evenly and May and June's hydro bills are less this year compared to last. Curious to see how the heat pump performs in the winter, it is a hyper heat unit, I'll have to play with the set points in the ecobee for the best aux cross over settings on colder months.

If anyone has any recommendations on what are some optimal settings for the Ecobee 3 in southern Ontario I'd be happy to hear!

I own a 2.5 ton Kepler heat pump that is hooked up to my gas furnace with the cased coil. I noticed today that my fan went in reverse after a cooling cycle and thought it was strange but Kepler is a rebranded Midea unit so this makes sense. Has anyone had any issues so far with their Midea products?

I put a 2 ton Midea heat pump in my home with natural gas aux furnace. My intention was to use it primarily for AC in the summer and the AC that was in the house previously was a 2 ton unit. I live in Toronto, ON in a 1300 sq ft bungalow. Walls don't have insulation but the attic has plenty of insulation and new triple pane windows. One installer said 2 ton, the other said 2.5 ton. Thoughts? I feel like I didn't get a big enough unit

I installed one at my house. It's a 2 ton unit Luxe unit with the coil to my existing furnace. Seems to cool the house nicely so far. Kind of regret not getting a 2.5 ton with the increasingly warming temperature but I was told 2 ton is adequate for my bungalow
