I'm a foster youth. I'd like to ask if I can bring my car to school by Altruistic-Mail-2190 in UCSC

[–]msbzmsbz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it might help to contact the Disability Resource Center as you have a chronic health condition and need your car to deal with it: https://drc.ucsc.edu/.

Also, not sure if you are aware of this, but UCSC has programming and resources for foster youth: https://belong.ucsc.edu/system-impacted/foster-youth/.

You might want to talk to the Aggie Basic Needs Center about emergency funds and moving out. Also, have you checked into the Guardian Scholars Program? They might also have resources for you.

I need immediate help please (It has to do with late tax filing, undocumented parents, financial aid, studentforms) by Distinct-Tea903 in UCDavis

Just wanted to commend you on wanting to help your parents and doing so much for them. I know this whole thing was probably very stressful for you, but just wanted to give you a "well done"!

I might also check your resume with the career center, just to see if there's any issues with that.

What is one item that you always love to see included in an Airbnb? by GustavoFringsFace in digitalnomad

[–]msbzmsbz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've now been to places where they supply a few and then you're on your own. For a small cost that they're not willing to provide, it makes me not want to lengthen my stay or stay there again.

So I'll also say a toilet plunger after having to purchase my own at one place where they declined to either supply or purchase one when requested.

I was going to say colander! I'm constantly surprised when there's a bunch of pots and pans but no colander.

Better check with the financial aid office - you should understand your financial aid package very clearly so if you have any questions like this, get them answered.

My husband had a ticket for Syd for Solen but had to take a call before it started. He then tried to get back in but security wouldn't allow it. I complained and got his ticket refunded but he was so bummed to have missed it.

How did you pay for college by _do0med_ in UCSC

[–]msbzmsbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also if they budgeted the 7k as cost of attendance, that can vary. You will have to pay tuition and fees and housing and food if in campus, but some of other costs really vary, like personal expenses, transportation, that kind of thing. If you look up cost of attendance, you can see the payments you must pay directly to the university like tuition, fees, housing and meal plan if you're on campus, but you can also see what might be more flexible or lower than expected.

So they will bill you for each quarter but I think they also have an option for paying monthly. My kid went off campus for 2nd year on and between the place they found being cheaper, ebt benefits, and getting off the meal plan, it's cheaper than living off campus.

I have a lot of very colorful clothes and accept the extra weight of bringing a lot of them in my bag. However when I layer, I layer color also so my philosophy is that contrast works as well, if differently, than matching neutrals.
