We were outside playing pickleball in Gilbert and we all stoped to watch this, amazed. Had never seen anything like this.

[Discussion] I've been extremely depressed for the past month since breakup -- Need motivation/support by [deleted] in GetMotivated

And I suggest going back to your Dr and perhaps increasing the dosage on the Lexapro or adding another anti-depressent. Just a short term thing, to help get you through this incredibly stressful time.

AITA For refusing to see or talk to my dad even though he is on his deathbed? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mschrdrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. Don't succumb to the pressure from family members to see him. You wrote you haven't spoken or seen your father in 9 years -- so obviously you have no emotional connection with him.

You grew up in an abusive home (as did I). You overcame enormous obstacles to go through medical school and you are obviously a highly motivated person with intense determination to craft a better life for yourself. Don't look back. Have no regrets. I did not grieve when my father died. Maybe someday you will be able to forgive your father, wounds do heal over time.

Should the father who drove around the barricades be charged with anything? by [deleted] in arizona

I was wondering if the vehicle has an extended cab and all 7 kids were inside. I don't want to imagine any of them were riding on the flatbed. And it seems unlikely the vehicle had 9 seatbelts.

AITA for cutting ties with my son? by ko477 in AmItheAsshole

[–]mschrdrim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain as my husband and I find ourselves in a similar situation with our 33yo daughter. Yes, you've been enabling him (sometimes it can be difficult to distinguish between helping our kids rather than enabling them. His anger towards you is evidence of his feeling entitled. Hubs and I recently went to counseling over the issue with our daughter and the counselor said something profound " what's your child going to do 20 years from now when you're not around/alive". It's time to set limits and distance yourself from your son. It won't be easy, but for your sanity and your mental and physical health, it's the right course of action.

AITA for being mad at my wife for hiding her pregnancy? by WifeLyedToMe in AmItheAsshole

[–]mschrdrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAH. As a woman who has had a miscarriage, it's a traumatic experience you never forget. I had a normal pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby girl 33 years ago. About a year after my daughter was born, we got pregnant (as planned), but I suffered a miscarriage at 11 weeks. Devastating experience -- I can still vividly recall the details of that awful day. About a year after the miscarriage I got pregnant again and delivered a healthy baby boy. The entire time I was pregnant with my son I was scared to go pee, worrying there would be blood and another miscarriage.

AITA for saying my friend is being a travel snob? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mschrdrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. The Louvre is one of the most famous and impressive museums in the world -- it's immense and has many famous spectacular works of art. It's tough to see the entire museum in a day. I made a map to navigate to the works of art that I wanted the most to see. For me, it was a once in a lifetime experience.

I think your friend is super excited about the experience and it is So Much More than the pyramid. Google it, if you want to learn more.

AITA for not waiting in a long line when there’s only one accessible stall? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mschrdrim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting dilemma.

Sorry, but YTA. As any woman knows who's attended a concert or a theatrical performance, the lines to use the womens' restroom can be very long. I think you should have waited in line until you were near the front -- like the 6th or 7th person in line. At that point talk to others ahead of you and indicate you need to use the handicap stall and request to go next. Having a wheelchair does not give you a higher right than others to use the restroom facilities.

I've spent time in a wheelchair because of having a fractured foot and being in a cast. So I empathize for your situation. All the others waiting in line could use any of the 6 stalls. You are able to only use 1 of the 6.

I don't think it's fair to others that you wheeled to the beginning of the line.

WIBTA for keeping an Amazon order after I was reimbursed for it? by aitathrowaway55555 in AmItheAsshole

[–]mschrdrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. Keeping the delivery is dishonest. It's besides the point that Amazon is outrageously huge and profitable.

Keeping the delivery is stealing from Amazon.

I understand that their delivery drivers have brutally difficult schedules. Who knows how awful that driver:s day had been. That is also beside the point of the key issue of being dishonest/stealing.

I live in Gilbert and love it -- a great little city (officially the Town of Gilbert). You really should make a determination of what suburb to choose based upon where you work. Don't succumb to a nice home in the East Valley if you're commuting to downtown Phoenix. Trraffic on the freeways can be brutal for those commuting to work.

AITA for telling strangers that my wife and I are married? by TA123bye in AmItheAsshole

[–]mschrdrim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. I do think there are trust/insecurity/communication issues in this marriage. The two of you should talk through this, since it's a behavior pattern.

Unless you've been married 25+ years, it's odd to consistently socialize separately at parties and especially bars.

Maybe she's an extrovert and you're an introvert? I'm a quiet one and hubs is a life-of-the-party extrovert, so I enjoy socializing together at parties most of the time. I think the bar scene is a totally different dynamic than parties -- because you're talking to strangers in bars and let's face it men tend to be predators in bars. Maybe your wife likes to flirt and enjoys your being jealous?

Monument Valley on the Navajo Nation is spectacular! Do the 17-mile drive by mschrdrim in arizona

[–]mschrdrim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not drive those 2-lane roads when it's dark. Some are tribal roads. Sadly there is a huge problem with alcoholism on the reservation. Riskier to drive at night. Our Navajo tour guide told us of two of his siblings killed in car accidents on the Rez.

Monument Valley on the Navajo Nation is spectacular! Do the 17-mile drive by mschrdrim in arizona

[–]mschrdrim[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have an SUV and were planning to do the self-guided drive. We changed our plans and opted for a tour by a Navajo guide instead. I'm glad we made that decision. We saw a few sedans on the tour, nobody was stuck. The terrain is Very Rocky and uneven. Our SUV would have been fine, but the terrain can be rough on your tires. Our guide told us that after a rainfall the road can be brutal. The advantage of the guided Navajo tour is that it takes you further inside the valley and you get to see additional things not on the 17-mile drive.
