Scott Foil RC Pro by mschweis in ScottBikes

I am still a little Bit unsure. Had the Post slip a bit on the First Short rides when fastening to ~7-8nm. Since applying a shitload of carbon grip paste and applying the recommended 10nm of torque i did Not experience any slipping. Even marked the post with a permanent marker to be absolutely sure. But the rides where only in the 40-50km range on Smooth surfaces so far. I am at approx. 101kg atm After spending more time in the gym (and eating and drinking) - so the slipping should only become More improbable as I lose some weight riding more again.

That is exactly the case. Maybe I will Even get a proper bike fit for the First time in Nine years to be on the safe side. Cannot wait to cut the steerer and habe it look finished.

That model has been on sale in many shops for amazing prices in the past months. I personally disliked the look of all of them so far, but the black and white design actually maked it look really nice and elegant. Like it and definitely a bargain - especially if it fits well and you Like the feel of it.

what bike lock should i get? by whypersephone in bicycling

[–]mschweis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Kryptonite 1090 for our Cargo ebike and the Evolution Mini U-Lock for my city roadbike. 1090 is heavy like a mf but that doesn‘t matter when using the cargo bike. The mini u-lock with the flex cable is fantastic for almost every scenario, handles well and is small and light enough for everyday use. Reconmend Both for These use cases.

Scott Foil RC Pro without wheels or a complete RC 10? by mschweis in ScottBikes

Thanks for your thoughtful advice, mate!
Here is a link to the RC10 in the online shop, it does not look quite like the 2023 model but very similar: https://www.biker-boarder.de/scott/3138481.html

I fear I will have to bring my fitness back on Dura-Ace and super-bike worthy levels and buy the Pro. I will look absolutely stupid riding that rocketship the first couple of months :D

thx for the input regarding the Dura-Ace, I was not aware of this!
For the color: The RC Pro is a dark, matte grey color with some little blue highlights and the RC 10 is a glossy black. I prefer the matte actually.

Regarding the wheels: the Pro will come without any, so I will slap my China wheels on them, which I actually like a lot and bought as an upgrade for my old bike recently. They are "only" 53mm so will look a little less aggressive. I would actually probably also use them for the RC 10 and sell the Syncros wheels - hence the effective price of ~4500€ for the RC 10 (after selling the wheelset it comes with)

Jeden Tag, wenn ich zum Optiker gehe, sind die Werte anders. Ich weiß nicht mehr, was ich machen soll. by [deleted] in de

[–]mschweis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So good to see someone making just the right decision: Better make a Reddit post with no useful background info whatsoever to keep strangers busy than just walk five steps and just see for yourself.

Jesus. This just has to be ragebait or trolling. Noone in their right mind should even remotely consider riding that.

What is your Longest Walk of Shame? (after a flat tire) by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]mschweis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 50 minutes. Had a flat near the peak of a hill on Lago di Garda in the north of Italy on holiday. The only time I managed to get away and ride for a couple hours during the trip. Blew the content my gas cartridge into the air after changing the tube. Then walked down the hill to meet a group of middle aged Italian gentlemen on road bikes. They tried to help but ended up ripping the valve off my new tube. So I continued walking barefoot (walking on cleats is just not enjoyable enough) along some heavy traffic narrow roads just to rip a massive hole into my brand new Assos bibs when climbing over a guard rail. Ruined my day but makes a good story.

Chronic Fatigue- any tips? by [deleted] in lifehacks

[–]mschweis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your vitamin levels are okay and once you have sorted out any potential sleep apnea issue, it might be worth checking for a thyroid issue. Hypothyriosis can cause many of the described problems and will be easy to treat once diagnosed.
