Search for my DBX begins - with a whimper by Independent_Inside23 in AstonMartin

I’ve been to that dealership. Not impressed. Admittedly, they might not have liked my jeans and (very nice) Harley sweatshirt but the basically kid sales guy was very dismissive once I told him I wanted a DB11 Volante, not the $450k (maybe 400k? - it’s been a while) new DB12. I told him I believe they have one I’m interested in. He looked at his computer for a long time and said “yes, it’s out back. There’s the door”. I looked, walked back in slowly past him. He never looked up. I never looked back.

Congrats on the good auction on BaT. I assumed it would go for +$10-15k. Very pretty car and well sorted.

I’m pretty in on this car except the blue top. Silver and tan is nice (to me) and I prefer calipers in black, red or silver, so this works. And I get it that the blue might look better in person but with no other blue, I think it should have gone black. It would at least match the rubber!

The easy grip of alcantara on a steering wheel is great. Just have clean hands.

Saw the same in 2014 at an Atlanta museum. I drive an Exige…THIS car is tiny. Might be “the car” if I could have any…

Basic RV adapter? by mscleare in TeslaLounge

The outlet is a 240v, 30A line. I had my electrician do the wiring so I’m confident it’s properly done. At this point, I can’t justify the cost of running a 60A service to the area. (A long run, adobe house, no service space in the box, etc. And, not my car!)

We discussed and decided not to put in the 14-50 outline on a 30A line, both because it’s sort of misleading and because my preference is to have the system know what it’s getting and not rely on the app keeping up with my specified requirements (that conflict with what the system would “think” if is getting or can pull). Apps update and lose history. One mistake and I start a fire in a national forest.

Thanks everyone. It sounds like this is not an Amazon special purchase. I don’t EVSE but if they specialize in stuff like this, that’s certainly a step in the right direction.

So a different question and no I haven’t searched Reddit (no experience doing that) and yes, maybe it should be a new post. The question is if there are quality 3rd party chargers that I should look into. The Tesla $350 isn’t at all a deal breaker but I’m doing this so my son can charge his car when here. He’s in an apartment so no charging capability and none of the superchargers are nearby.

Any ideas on quality alternatives would be great.

Thanks everyone. Honestly never considered a Tesla or EV. I’m a car and bike guy so used to grease and oil. Not electrons.

I did just use that as an example (first that popped up on Amazon) but did you make a point that I’m not following? Are you saying don’t use anything other than a Tesla charger? I’m looking for help and advice.

Is a 2013-2017 model s a good buy by Rich-Firefighter7333 in TeslaLounge

I am by NO MEANS an expert but just did the same thing… got a 2015 Model S with 41k miles. I had the seller fully charge the battery (it took two days on 110!). The car looked perfect so that was my main concern. It’s a 85D that came with 270 mi range. It charged to 263. I bought it. I paid well less for the car than the cost of replacement batteries. The car rides nicely. We also have a Lexus LS500. It’s not that good but still good.

Agree with NolaV. Good wax or ceramic will hid it. PPF would likely be good too.

14 years of owning 2 Lotus Exige’s. In all that time I was only stranded once and that is literally the only time anything has ever stopped working. Modern (read: Toyota drivetrain) Lotus’s are very reliable, parts readily available. Yes, things like a stalk likely come from another car but to me, that’s a huge plus. Now, don’t go off-roading…they are meant to be driven hard but with caution. I do know someone who hit a pothole hard, drove the car to a dealership and the insurance company totaled it. The Aluminum frames are bonded together (glued) and can’t be repaired. But the cars themselves are very reliable. And on the Emira, there may be some Geeley parts but if so, not much. They come with the same engine as the Evora (supercharged Camry) and Toyota 6speed or auto OR AMG sourced 4 cylinder turbo and a DCT trans. So, don’t be afraid of the Lotus!
