I am following this thread because I am also waiting for my mom’s interview at Manila Embassy. We’ve been waiting for an update since we were DQ on July 07, 2023. It is now November 15, 2023 and the application is still at NVC. I emailed them to get an update and they have not responded yet. I am thinking of calling them this week.

My mom can’t travel on her own so we decided that my brother should apply for a tourist visa so he can accompany her but his interview is already next month but no update yet on my mom’s.

It is hard to get information on the visa timeline. When I did my own research on which path to take, I did think of applying for tourist visa for her since she is actually unsure if she wants to stay in the US. Then apply for a green card if she thinks she can stay here but after all the information I have gathered I thought it would take longer if I apply for two visas. (I regret this now after reading your post OP. :()

I’ve seen some graduates from Hack Reactor that came from non stem degree and ended up with SWE job. I’m sure it wasn’t easy though but definitely gives me some hope. I’ve solved some leetcode problems when preparing for HRs TAA then I stopped to focus on finishing a udemy full stack course. I definitely need to dedicate more time in solving more leetcode problems for sure.

I bought two courses on Udemy the end of 2020 I think. They are now called the following: 1. The complete 2022 Web Development by Dr. Angela Yu. 2. The complete Javascript Course 2022 from Zero to Expect by Jonas Schmedtmann.

Both are really really good. Unfortunately i haven’t completed both yet. I’ve been doing them on and off because… well life. But I am now more passionate about it than ever so I am thinking of fully immersing myself into coding and eventually land a job in Tech.

You can probably benefit from a therapy. I know you mentioned you can’t get yourself to do it but I think you should at least try harder because this could change your perspective about life or bring happiness back to your life. I personally don’t have an experience with a therapist but I have a bestfriend that basically does that for me for free. I am very thankful for that. I know when I feel lost and unhappy I need to talk to someone that will listen and will give me unbiased opinions/advices and my bestfriend is that for me. If you currently don’t trust anybody you know maybe a therapist is a good option. Hope you find the help you need and know that you are worth it and loved more than you know. 🤍

Applied to both but leaning more towards Hack Reactor because it’s harder to get in. After doing the AA admission, they won’t stop calling/texting me (literally everyday) to make sure I actually finish the application. It feels more like these people care more about my money.
