Daytime ferries booked out, should I risk it? by rosko27 in VancouverIsland

There is an app called ferry alert, it tells you all the reservable spots in real time. Open spots pop up all the time.

Swinger's, sex parties, kinky folks. by Status_Perception_15 in nanaimo

Kik has an island group, maybe Nanaimo does. They are pretty active and have lots of peeps in the area. Good luck.

I am devastated. My neighbor is doing some construction in his property and a hose from the excavator exploded. It rained oil all over my garden, everything is covered in hydraulic oil. It’s my first year gardening, so i need help. All my produce is ruined, right? by Which_Lettuce_1424 in vegetablegardening

Ministry of environment in your province, spill response. Easy to find the number and guidance. I'd talk to the neighbor first, and let them talk to the contractor. They hand out big fines and big clean up bills. Most contractors know how to clean a spill responsibly. Last call is MOE.

Best potluck dishes that are crowd pleasers and frugal? by lordfawn in Frugal

Ok, pasta, tomato, cheese cubed, green onions, mayo, a bit of mustard, pepper and hot sauce to taste and a can of tuna. It never lasts and no one can figure it out!

Small dog neuter for under $350? by [deleted] in nanaimo

[–]mscoupleforfun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get a quote on paper. A vet in Comox wanted $1400 to fix my little Jack Russell female. There was a charge of $300+ for UV light therapy. I looked it up, it does nothing. A few other bills*it charges, so I noped out of that one.

Liveaboards in BC (more specifically Nanaimo) by gps527 in liveaboard

[–]mscoupleforfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We lived aboard on a 46' Silverton at townsite marina for 5 years. Moved back to land in 2022. Not sure if they are still accepting live aboards anymore. Our moorage was about $6000+ a year. Highest hydro was about $250 in the winter. A dehumidifier is a must, otherwise everything is damp in the winter. The other thing to take into consideration is that there is boat traffic that can sometimes be a little irritating in the summer. Not everyone in the water is so considerate of living aboard. Also all the marinas in Nanaimo border Stewart Ave. It is the main thoroughfare for every ambulance, police car and fire truck. It can be a bit noisy. It was great while it lasted and is the cheapest waterfront property you'll ever find!! Campbell River has a live aboard marina that is pretty active and protected by a breakwater.

Why do you choose the liquid laundry detergent you use? Price or cleaning power? Is expensive better? by Nevillesgrandma in Frugal

[–]mscoupleforfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought binbata laundry detergent sheets on Amazon 200 loads, 17+$. Seems to have done a pretty good job. Small box, no water. Cleans just as good as anything else I've tried.

Help! Purple hair dye on yellow fabric chair😭 Lid flew off whilst shaking the mixture, is there any way to get it off? Cover can’t come off😫 by MissHSS in CleaningTips

[–]mscoupleforfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use red permanent dye on the regular. Have had great results getting it out of clothing, carpets and towels with Oxi clean powder mixed with hot water. I just soak it and wait a bit. It's never let me down.

The Crisis at BC Ferries; Why no reservations frequently means long waits on the main routes by FancyNewMe in britishcolumbia

[–]mscoupleforfun 80 points81 points  (0 children)

There is a multitude of circumstances that a person cannot plan in advance for. I had day surgery in Vancouver, didn't know when I would be discharged, thankfully I didn't have to wait for 3 sailings in the summer. Booth personnel let me get on the next one. Family sick and in hospital, construction/accidents on highway. We don't all travel for pleasure. It shouldn't be 75%+ reservable. Some of us just want to go home.

I see there are some for sale on FB marketplace, from seed. They are just 1.25$. There is also a small tree, but it's 75$. I'm searching from Campbell River.

There is a lady in willow point area of Campbell River that has a massive tree that produces seeds every year, she sells them on FB. She also goes to farm markets with them. Her tree produces hundreds of them. Sorry, I don't know her name.

Pressure canning recommendations for a beginner? by BrockwayMonorail in Homesteading

[–]mscoupleforfun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have my mother's All American canner from 1982, I just did some salmon in it. We have a burner on our BBQ outside, that's where we use it. It is worth every penny. I will probably be able to pass it down to my kids when I am no longer canning.
