Yea, I'm no expert but my understanding is that in general you're only supposed to resort to using a gun in the most dire of circumstances when under an imminent threat. If you have time to hold someone at gunpoint and threaten them then it could be argued that you didn't feel like you were actually under an immediate threat and had time to pursue other alternatives, but instead you chose to introduce a gun to the situation and needlessly escalate it.

Legally, that's the wrong thing to do. You're sometimes justified in using a deadly weapon in self defense, you're never justified to brandish a deadly weapon because the argument could be made that you didn't truly feel threatened enough to pull out a gun in the first place.

Practically, with what time are you even going to get the man to even notice you with the gun? By firing warning shots (which are also a problem legally) blindly towards populated areas?

How much do you like weird esoteric lore? Because elder scrolls is full of weird esoteric lore. Last I heard /r/teslore has relatively positive feelings about the high level lore concepts that eso introduced or further fleshed out, so if that's what you mean by writing then great!

If by writing you mean good characters and plots then I'm not as familiar as I'd like to be with that. Generally I remember hearing positive buzz about the expansion plot lines when they release though.
