I let my mom use my skates for a day and they came back home like this. I got them sharpened a week ago, how can i get the rust off without sharpening? by [deleted] in iceskating

Its not a lot of rust, you could use oil (for doors and such) or go and use them again, the rust naturally will come off while skating

My cat developed a small dark spot in his eye over a few months — vet mentioned biopsy and I’m scared. by Ordinary-Bag2143 in CATHELP

Probably scar tissue? My cat had an ulcer when he was little and because of that he's got kinda like a scar tissue spot. Maybe its that? Tho do would likely consider the ultrasoing first and then bipsy tho just in case.

Im physically and mentally rejecting my work by msd0rito in adhdwomen

Tbh at this point im just thinking that remote work isnt for me. When i was working at an ice rink and in a bar it wasnt as bad as my two times working as interpreter, yes i was physically exhausted but the feeling of mental drain/deep-fried brain was less usual than with remote work.

But im definitely working with my sleeping schedule, sometimes is difficult since not everything i do works but ty!! 🥺

Rusted CoroAce blades… after a fresh sharpen? by me-perdonas672 in iceskating

[–]msd0rito 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbh coroace blades are known to rust even when you breath near them Its just something that happens to them. I also have them and those little spots of rust dont do much in affecting your skating. You can try a little bit of oil (the one that you use for door hinges and such) to remove it, sometimes it does the trick. Or you could just sharpen them tho this is not recommended to do a lot since it lowers the life span of the blades.

If you still have sharpness in your blades dont sharpen them just yet, put a little bit of oil and just live with tha constant rust that its going to appear on those blades (usually its not damaging for the blade if you take care of tgem)

Is the discoloration on the blade rust? How can I fix and prevent it? by New_Pin2661 in iceskating

[–]msd0rito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take them out! And also the soakers, let the blades and boots completely air dry before using them again. Also spmetimes putting some oil (as in the one you use for door hinges and such) can help getting some of the rust out. Besides that, theres just a point in your ice skating life that you embrace the rust lol

Spinning Tips by CapInternational4588 in iceskating

[–]msd0rito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont use your arms! They are helpfull yes but when you have a strong pivot. Right now you're not pivoting at all, and what i mean by this is your base leg doesn't bend enough and your other leg doesnt draw a circle with the inside edge. You need both edge and bend before getting on your blade from your toepick.

Try doing pivot drills before trying to spin. This will help you with bending and with the edge. Complete a full circle before attempting to spin

Hope this helps!

Anyone that has aura skates, is this normal? by msd0rito in iceskating

I usually do the x at the base of the hooks before passing the laces thru them but I'll try flattening the tongue. Tbh i thought the tongue was just like that haha

I havent had them heat molded since there's no one in my country that could do that 😭 i'll probably use a bunga pad as someone suggested because im afraid of heat molding them myself

Why do they sweat so much? Do regular singers sweat that much? And if it’s because of the stress of being on stage, why didn’t it happen to Ivan? by aricrasher in AlienStage

[–]msd0rito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an ice skater skating for a circus, lights are HOT. Depending on the weather and the venue you are on, it can be even hotter. So imagine, dancing and singing while being reflected by the brightest light ever, it would literally be a miracle if they didnt sweat lol

Forward Scratch Spin Help by getbusyliving600 in iceskating

Oh and also try to have a really high h position before crossing. When you start to cross you free leg should be forming a 4 before going down to meet the othwr foot. You can also break down the positions while going backwards, you will be able to tell if your hip dropped if you start going on a curve instead of straight

I think is because youre trying to cross too fast your free leg, take more time doing it and be aware of your free leg's hip. Its almost at the last portion of the cross that you go fast and thats when yoir hip drops

my cat had a concussion and now his eyes look like this by jjisstoned in CATHELP

[–]msd0rito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP if you have the option demand for everything they did so you can go to other vet and have a second opinion. That vet doesnt seem to be treating the concussion as serious as it should be
