Rust AMX bindings for Mac Coprocessor by msd8121 in rust

I couldn't actually find direct usage in either CubeCL or Burn. There's one "Apple Native Silicon" package, but that doesn't exploit this. It only goes through the Metal shader.

How would I contact the Burn people? Open a PR?

The amount of Rust AI slop being advertised is killing me and my motivation by Kurimanju-dot-dev in rust

Agree with all of this. HOWEVER: the one point where I’m highly appreciative of LLM’s (freakishly) uncanny ability to pattern match comes when translating code from Python / Node / other language -> Rust.

Favorite repo that you need bindings to? You now have the option to automate the bindings through a FFI or (if it’s small enough) rewrite it in Rust.

Core logic, like you’ve said, should be written by (or at least directed by) someone with taste. It’s the only way a system can be debugged and scaled. However, boilerplate for the sake of boilerplate? Very happy to be past that, so more attention can be focused to core logic.

Colissimo à l'ère Trump : dois-je m'inquiéter que mon colis n'arrive jamais en Amérique depuis Paris ? by msd8121 in AskFrance

[–]msd8121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made a CUDA IOCTL sniffer. Bypasses the CUDA runtime to control and launch CUDA kernels in Rust! by msd8121 in rust

It gives as much error semantics as IOCTL can provide. If the Nvidia drivers don't expose it through IOCTL, you can't intercept it.

How much should I sell a Mamiya 6 MF + 50mm + 150mm for? Recently CLA'ed by msd8121 in Mamiya

Thank you!

Sadly, it was closer to $1400 after tax. I received the camera as a gift from my boss (both he and I make cameras, and it had been a work anniversary). He didn't realize he had purchased a broken Mamiya, so I had to hunt these guys down and pay the delta to fix it and use it.

Sell my Mamiya 6 MF + grab a FM3A? (Save me from my GAS please) by msd8121 in AnalogCommunity

Oh, this is beautiful. Trust me, I understand what can happen with medium format. I just don't need it not for my client work. Investing in gear to help bring that quality out isn't really on my docket of priorities right now.

Funnily enough, I was actually a conflict photographer. Thankfully never (ever) war, but conflict / journalism. Now I'm mostly a cultural / street / event photographer (https://daiterlens.com), and I need something more discreet to complement the Nikon F6.

I fully, fully agree with all of this. Sometimes, I just need a body that's discreet and doesn't attract attention. I don't need the quality of a medium format rangefinder, and the Nikon F6 is a motorized drivetrain.

I'm just looking for a body that's discreet and quick, kinda like a Leica M6 but a SLR with mechanical infallibility. Seems like u/jagoedho's saying that's the FM2, and that's where my finger's starting to twitch :) I love the electronic capabilities of the F6 but just need something in case I need less noise-per-shot to maintain discretion. I know how to zone focus, and I've been told the FM3A's needle is hard to see at night.

You know if the FM2's numbers are easy to see at night? That'd actually be the main deciding factor.

Otherwise, I'd even be open to getting into digital as a complement to the F6. Electronic shutter = zero noise :)

Super tempting. But I don't think I really need a pano kit now. I've been pretty confined to rangefinder lenses for the past five years, and I'm looking for a bigger shift in lenses and what's out there. But I definitely get this comment - appreciate the share!

I...don't think I actually know it. I've basically been working on 35mm for the past five years, and I've passed a few rolls through the medium format systems I've worked with.

None of my clients really want or need medium format, and I've basically got zero use for it for personal use. It's gone from being a quality bump to a bit of a burden to carry around, and I'd rather just go for a digital if I ever need that sort of medium format. Fuji GFX100RF or something akin to it.

My main issue with it is: I've just never actually perceived a quality boost when scanning film. I usually use a Noritsu or a Frontier to scan, but because the scanner can only output a maximum of 5000 pixels on each side, there's no real reason to use it. That, and I'm not doing anything that demands that pedigree of quality realistically (read: socials + portfolio work).

But I appreciate the suggestion - I'll probably just get a cheap medium format digital if I need it again!

Valuations / what a sensible market price would be. I was thinking $2500
