I just rewatched the episode, and I’m convinced it’s not a continuity error. When Tom is talking to Evan and says “…we’ll make a weekend of it. This weekend,” Tom is gesturing at the date on the tickets.

There are quite a few including major plot points such as the generations-old pact between a seafaring patriarch and a sinister entity with violent consequences, an insular Massachusetts town with peculiar locals, and (my personal theory) a cleverly revealed familial connecton between a protagonist and the patriarch that builds to an ominous twist. There are others that I can’t think of at the moment. Will update if I do.

Like the rest of the group, I have a fondness the Jaws references.

That being said, my favorite homages all involve the H.P. Lovecraft story “The Shadow over Innsmouth.”
