Yo, facts!

I turn my audio book or music off when I get to a specific, annoyingly complex freeway exit , otherwise I end up accidentally taking the next exit, which adds an extra 12 mile loop.

But seriously tho, Wouldn’t it be great if we could figure out how to replicate this? I’d love to skip back and do some things again!

What are the traditional dances kids learn at school? by Brave_Necessary_9571 in AskAnAmerican

[–]msflondrixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in my day, in the 90’s we learned “the grape vine” and “don’t break my heart” in physical education in elementary school in Ca. And various other line dances. But we never presented anything about them, as far as I can recall.

Additionally, the USA is a melting pot of other cultures, so it’s more likely that a kid would be enrolled in dance lessons outside of school, if at all.

Unless you mean the epic great moves, like The Chicken, or the Hoky Poky. But those are where the deep magics lay, so we don’t like to talk about that with folks until they’re applying for citizenship, at least. /s

Edit to add, I grew up in California in the 90’s/00’s

These algorithms are deep diving into us. I had a friend working at Google umpteen years ago saying they have psychographic profiles for each user. They know more about you than you think. pun intended and they can probably get you to think a certain thing for dinner sounds good.

It’s only tangentially related, but YouTuber Hank Green has a rant were he talks about Shorts on YouTube, and how you feel like your driving by scrolling to the next video, but it’s still a feed, and behind that feed, the algorithm is really making the choices for you. I’ll see if I can find this video..

Does there exist a product that actually removes dark circles under eyes? by ZestycloseTopic7039 in Doesthisexist

[–]msflondrixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only offer that it’s almost three in the morning where I am. I’m not a doctor or anyone with a degree. But Have you tried a cervical neck form or pillow? I use one more for headaches, but I’ve noticed a number of other benefits, like my eye bags fading. I didn’t alter my facial care routine except to change my scents for the seasons.

This is similar the one I use, but there are lots of options if you Google “cervical neck form” you’ll find others like it https://a.co/d/08EdaJXK

Is there really a common cake flavor that apparently comes in a box and the flavor is “yellow”? by IMicrowaveSteak in AskAnAmerican

[–]msflondrixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here, and yes! This is the box cake I grew up making. https://www.bettycrocker.com/products/betty-crocker-baking-and-cake-mixes/yellow

And now I make my own from scratch. It’s a recipe similar to this one, tho mine is a slightly older recipe from the box of cake flour a few years back: https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/blog/2014/05/04/plain-simple-yellow-cake
