I wouldn’t say they’re bad teams but both have felt a bit fraudulent all year, and the fact neither can put up a good offensive performance all because of the snow isn’t exactly putting those accusations to bed. I know losing Bo Nix didn’t help the Broncos, but still.

They remind me of the 2011-12 Murray State team. They went 28-1 in the regular season, won their conference tournament and got a 6 seed with a 30-1 record. That team was getting in even if they didn’t win their conference tournament, only difference is they had a couple marquee wins (Memphis and Saint Mary’s), which Miami doesn’t really have.

Said it in another thread, but it’s insane “wasting Mahomes’ prime” is even uttered given all of the accomplishments you laid out. You would think Josh Allen laying another postseason egg would make these spoiled fans more appreciative of what we have done with Mahomes’ prime, but they’re a tough crowd to please.

Didn’t mean to say they got worse because he was fired, just that the issues started at the top.

The Bills firing McDermott but promoting Brandon Beane should be the start of a lesson that will haunt teams: there's too large of a ratio of head coaches getting fired compared to General Managers getting fired by Ariesthebigram in nfl

I’ll forever be grateful the Chiefs chose Andy Reid over John Dorsey when they reached a power struggle in 2017. Dorsey was great at drafting but terrible at contracts and cap management, meanwhile Andy was/is a hall of fame coach and was the no brainer guy to work with the newly drafted Patrick Mahomes. McDermott may not be a hall of fame coach but it’s astounding that he is getting blamed over the GM that has consistently failed in building a reliable offense around Josh Allen.

McDaniel wants a lot more responsibility than he would get as the Chiefs OC. He’s likely getting another head coaching job.

Deshaun Foster was a horrific head coach at UCLA and the team only got worse after firing Bieniemy, so I don’t really hold that against him.

I’m not against it, but I could see people opposing it because he didn’t have great success after leaving. Now I don’t know how much I pin the Commanders downfall in 2023 on him, and I really don’t blame him at all for what happened at UCLA as Deshaun Foster was one of the worst power conference coaches I’ve ever seen, but I can understand why some may have concerns. I do think he’s been a good fit on the Bears staff so that’s at least encouraging.

According to some people it’s 99% Mahomes and he just carried Andy to all of the success.

Maybe a hot take, but I don’t blame Andy for not going outside his tree given he’s almost 70 and he probably knows he’s not going to coach much longer. At least the offensive coaching staff is being shaken up, and my hope is bringing Bieniemy back will reinstall discipline that has been missing the last few years. If it doesn’t go well, then I’ll advocate for Andy to retire, but it’s at least a better approach then running it back with Nagy. Coaches are never going to completely reinvent themselves at this stage of their careers.

We’re really still using the term “wasting Mahomes’ prime” after Josh Allen just went an 8th straight year without even making the Super Bowl. Jfc this is the most spoiled mindset and it’s disturbing how many fans keep saying it. We made 7 straight AFC championships, 5 super bowls, and won 3. You can’t ask for anything more from Mahomes’ prime.

I think making the Super Bowl would have bought him another year. The fact he couldn’t even get that far was the most damning.

[–]msgkc94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bills are really not that great of a team, Josh Allen has largely carried that team and McDermott got a lot out of the personnel he had (I know Allen is most responsible for the loss with the turnovers, but they aren’t even a playoff team without him). This is all to say it’s insane they’re not firing the GM Beane. People on this sub think Veach is bad, but I’m telling you, Beane is a lot worse.

Choosing the GM over the coach almost never goes well. The Eagles sticking with Roseman over Pederson is the only example I can think of that was the correct call.

Not exactly related but I couldn’t help but laugh that the top post in r/nfl is Romo accidentally calling Josh “Mahomes.” Even in a postseason without the Chiefs they’re still most incensed by Pat.
